Tests before a dental?

So I'm thinking of taking Bandit for her first dental ever and I'm really scared about the general anaesthesia.

A vet I spoke to here, said that a blood panel (complete blood count, kidney function & liver function) was sufficient to assess whether Bandit was well enough to handle GA. Another one said they would need chest x-rays and an ECG too.

I don't know anyone here in Mumbai whose cats have undergone dental cleaning/surgery. Which makes me even more nervous!

Would appreciate if I could get some idea of what tests we should get done and what red flags we should look for?

The blood panel will make sure she's not sick, or if she has some kidney disease which might need some extra fluids during the procedure. Neko never had an EKG, but the chest x-ray is checking to make sure Bandit's heart looks good and can take the anaesthesia. Neko had several dentals, until her heart could no longer take it. But it was an echocardiogram that diagnosed her heart was no longer up to it.

Thank you.. Hopefully the veterinary surgery scene in India is more advanced than I give it credit for! The cat food scene is woefully inadequate!
Wow this support group is truly a global phenomenon - since I joined in August I've come across members from the USA, UK, Canada, Sweden and now India (and no doubt others I haven't seen yet) - a world of people all supporting each other & our sugar babies - such a nice warm fuzzy feeling!
