no in Virginia usa. pharmacy said they've had no issues with them.its a mom and pop style pharmacy so I trust theyre imput.

now do I have to program these testers or just test and go?

there are 2 main types of meters one is coded and one is not coded. The coded on means that you program a code printed on the test strips into your meter. The not coded is plug and go.

I also am not familiar with the one you posted but it is not coded according to amazon.

vet also called back and said the wait on the testing for 4 hours isn't always true but I don't feel right raising the dose until I get a couple of testes 4-6 hours in on his vetsulin. anyone else feel the same that 1 hour was to soon?

if I have to code it it cant be that hard and im sure the pharmacy will help

there was about 5-6 hours between the time i gave the vetinsulin injection and the took my cat to the vet to get a glucose test and the vet told me to have about 5-6 hours between

never heard of that meter. i got the 9.00 relion one from walmart and took it to my vet. they did there own glucose test and then one with the meter to see how far apart the readings were. so you may want to do that with your vet. the strips cost the same for 50

Vetsulin is a harsher (meaning it drops BG fast) insulin but not that harsh. Doing a BG curve, testing every 2 hours for 12 hours, or every 3 hours for 18 can help you figure out when it the ideal time for you to see how things are going with your cat.

The vet could be right. But without tests in other parts of the day there isn't any way to know that and increasing the dose based off of a test so close to shot time seems a little worrisome to me. I'd want to have more testing to know if it is lowering him or not. What if he was 200 points lower 2hrs later?

It looks from the link like that meter isn't coded. The only worry about the off-brand meters is that we don't know how they tend to run because we haven't seen them in action. Some of the off brand meters will run too low or too high. You can always get it and try it out and if the numbers seem suspect, get a different one. It does appear to require a bigger sample than the ReliOns.

I'd start to test at +3. If a cat drops really fast between giving the injection and +3 it is possible that the BG might climb a little after that. Also do checks between +7 and+10, when the crystalline fraction of the Vetsulin is at peak effect.
