sorry guys, I know this isn't diabetes related but I don't know where else to go. I woke up in the middle of the night to strange scratching sounds. I found terry in the corner of our bed room unable to stand or walk. Now she can stand but she just keeps walking in circles. I think she may have had a stroke. Her BG was 6.0 so I know it's not that. Has anyone else had this happen to their cats?

That's awfully scary. Paralysis could be from a number of things, including a tick bite. Something is causing messages from the brain to not be received by the spinal cord. If it were me, I would take Terry to the nearest vet ER as soon as possible.
I'll be praying for you. Please post again and let us know how you get on. :bighug:

I had a cat that did the circling it was her inner ear. She didn't have the unable to walk symptom though. Vet gave meds and she was fine. I had another one that had a stroke. Had to spoon feed and give fluids, but she survived and did quite well with some meds. Hope yours is as simple, but I agree with Brenda, get to the vet as soon as possible. :bighug:

Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear this. How very worrying for you.
Yes, I have had a cat who had what was suspected to be a stroke, and walking in circles was one of her symptoms. But there are other conditions that can cause that also.
I agree with Brenda and Rhonda that Terry needs to see a vet ASAP.

Keeping everything crossed here for Terry.

Huge hugs to you, sweetie,

Eliz

Thanks guys, she had another stroke/seizure. I'm going to take her in to the vet as soon as it opens in an hour

Poor kitty, you must be worried sick about her! I hope its good news at the vet's, and that Terry gets better soon. Sending hugs and healing vibes!

Ok she's walking a bit better now, still kind of wobbly ...I'm a little scared to take her to the vet cause I don't know if they can do anything other than put her to sleep :S

If it is a stroke then please know that it is possible for some cats to recover (depending on level of damage). I really wish I'd known this when my kitty had her stroke. (I had her PTS right away because I thought she couldn't recover :( )
So, despite how things might appear right now, do be sure to ask your vet about the possibility of recovery before you make any important decisions.

((((Hugs))))

I'm sorry you woke to this, Terrelle - you & Terry are in my prayers this morning. Sending hope & healing vibes your way (((Hugs)))

Oh no. Sending hugs and prayers. Please keep us posted. You will be in my healing thoughts all this day.
I am hoping for the best for you.
Recovery is always a possibility.

Sending hugs your way too. A friend of mine had a cat too that was walking in circles and a little disoriented. Turned out to be an inner ear problem. Cat was sent home with some meds and fully recovered. I hope this is the case and that the vet should know.

I know the feeling of not wanting to hear anything "bad" but, honestly, there are so many things that are NOT "life threatening" that it could be that only a vet can tell you. I hope that you've gone/are going at this point.

Even were it to be a stroke, lots of cats can live with it. If it's seizures, there are meds, just like for people. And, there is always the possibility of it being an inner ear infection and there are meds that can help. And, no vet in their right mind is going to say PTS without being sure. If they do...go to another vet. You get to make the call...not the vet.

Sending hugs and support and good, healing energies and vibes! Keep us all updated as we'll all be waiting and watching, wishing we could do or say more. Prayers and good energies DO work! You're getting those from all of us.

HUGS :bighug:

Hoping Terry is doing better and diagnosis was something treatable. We are all thinking of you and Terry, sending healing vibes your way.

Thanks guys, unfortunately I had to send my baby over the rainbow bridge. She spent the day at the vet on iv anti seizure meds and when I brought her home she could barley walk she was limping everywhere and meowing panicked. After an hour of waiting for her to calm when she wouldn't I had to take her back to the vet, I could let her suffer like that. She calmed down and almost slept in my arms at the vet so I think she knew she didn't want to suffer anymore

Her kidneys were also failing at a rapid rate.

I'm so very, very sorry Terrelle. It was her time and you absolutely loved her enough to do the right thing for her....as hard as it is for you to have done. Fly free now, Terry. I'm sure she's thanking you and snuggling up to you right now. Just huge, huge hugs. :bighug:

I'm so sorry to hear it was Terry's time to go. I lost my Marshmallow just about a week ago and I know how sad you are right now. But she gave you a message that she was ready to go and you listened. Hugs to you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
