My cat Keiko is hospitalized tonight after being given 3 doses of insulin as prescribed by my veterinarian. Long story short, the lab my vet sent her blood and urine to, made a mistake. My cat is not diabetic. She had a severe hypoglycemic event and tonight is on an IV drip and not eating. She conscious but so weak she can't stand. Has anyone else experienced this. Will my Keiko recover?

So sorry this happened to you and Keiko. Recovery will depend on whether and how much any damage has been done and getting proper care. It may take some time. I do hope that she is at a hospital where someone competent will be monitoring her 24/7. I further hope that the vet will be covering the entire cost of her treatment. They screwed up and it's the very least they can do.

Please let us know how she's doing. We worry.

Just spoke to veterinary clinic. Keiko is doing well. She got her vision back and is no longer disoriented. She ate and drank this morning. They're keeping her today to continue fluids. Her back legs are still weak but she's able to stand and walk a bit. The vet thinks that any neurological damage will resolve. I guess the lesson I learned here is that before starting a powerful medication like insulin, I will ask the vet to repeat and confirm a second time any and all lab work. I'm so lucky that I didn't lose her.

I am so sorry this has happened to you and Keiko but I am so relieved to hear she is improving.
Please keep us updated with her progress.:bighug:
