OK- so our fridge went out and we are living out of coolers in the garage while we get a replacement. It won't be until Saturday. Last night, my mom took Rudy's insulin home with her to keep it overnight-and she is going to bring it back this morning- but it puts his schedule an hour behind. Am I OK doing this until Saturday, or am I able to put it in a cooler? I don't want to ruin the insulin and I know that it can be pretty picky, so I am not sure if a cooler would be keeping the proper temperature or not?

I thought a fridge going out would be bad enough with four kids.....nope- this fur baby is the high maintenance one! lol

Yes, a cooler will work. You just don't want it to freeze.

thank you! I've been freaking out because the bottle is so specific with the temperatures and I really don't want to ruin such an expensive item :-)

It might be a good idea to wrap it in bubble wrap, newspapers, or something similar, just in case it comes into contact with the cooler's ice or ice pack. The insulation will help to keep it from freezing.

When I travel I wrap the vial in a paper towel and place in a plastic frosting container, then put the container in the cooler near the top, not necessarily on ice. Paper towel provide a little insulation, and also keeps it from bouncing around inside.

Thanks! my handy dandy husband acutally was able to fix ours for $90 worth of parts! :-)
The insulin survived...Rudy's numbers have actually been better since we increased him a little too. so happy about that!
