Teeth Cleaning Question

Today is day 216 OTJ.
Milo went to vet for bloodwork yesterday. He is in need of teeth cleaning which I went ahead and scheduled, I know with diabetes it is important to do.
His bloodwork yesterday will take care of the pre-op work needed.
My question is on estimate it listed dental chews .... I am assuming these are a big NO for a diabetic in remission and any diabetic cat. Vet is really good about listening to how I am following the low-carb diet, etc.

Is there anything else I need to know or ask before teeth cleaning.
