Tater tot was diagnosed a month ago with a BG of 341 at the vet
A month later we returned to the vet for a fructosamine test and the results were 411 (good range)
The vet advised not to start insulin at that time and continue with the diet change.
I am wondering if I should get a second opinion. Taters numbers remain in the blues using the Relion human meter. Should she be on insulin? I don't want to harm her more by listening the vet and not advocating for her. The vet said she is under the "renal threhsold"

Hi Kaitlyn
To me it looks likes like she could use some insulin , I'm not an expert , but I would go back to your title above and put a ? In front of Tater Tot and after your last work please I would put not on insulin yet to get some attention
Just look to the right it will say Thread Tools tap on that , then tap on Edit Title
do what I said then hit save

Kaitlyn, what I would do is do a test in the mornings before you forgive any food and then take another test about three hours later to see if the food reduces the BG. To that with the evening meal as well.
If the pancreas is working, the food will stimulate the pancreas to produce some insulin and that will bring the abG down after around Three hours. That will give us a better idea of what happening than just random tests.
Keep posting so we can advise you.
What I would do though, a you are not giving any insulin yet is to monitor the urine for ketones. Diabetic cats who are not getting insulin when they should can develop ketones in the urine and we want to avoid that while you are trialling just the food.
You will need a bottle of ketostix from Walmart or a pharmacy to do the tests..
