When Brody was at the vet's office, she said he had really bad tartar and plaque. She recommended. Tropiclean gel. I noticed it has corn alcohol, which I assume means it has sugar. What are other owners using to combat Tartar? I posted this on FB as well. I appreciate any feedback.

I can't help with the tartar control products, but if Brody has bad tartar and plaque, the first thing you should do is get a good dental on him. Starting out with a clean slate so to speak.

The products I've seen all promise great things, but I haven't found that any of them work as well as their claims say they do.

A good dental can reduce Brody's need for insulin too. Not always, but a lot of times, a good dental will result in a reduction in dose

Alcohol is a carb. I myself see nothing really wrong with using it. Just do not feed it to the cat.

The ingredients are:
Ingredients:

Purified Water, Natural Derived Alcohol, Natural Mint, Glycerin, Natural Cleanser, Carbopol, Chlorophyllin, Green Tea Leaf Extract

Carbopol is a thickener.

Thank you for your replies and feedback. The vet didn't feel he was quite at the point of needing a dental, but she wanted to be proactive.
