Tape worms and insulin?

I read on a post here that someone had their cat treated for tape worms because they can keep the cat from absorbing the insulin correctly or too fast?

Anyone have any insight on this? I don't think my boys have tape worm but they are probably overdue for a de-worming. I usually use the pills from Tractor supply, praziquantel. But it looks like they made it Rx only.

Any suggestions on OTC tape worm treatment?

I don't think he has worms-- I haven't seen any in his poop but he DID have a few fleas on him back in August.

I guess it couldn't do much harm to de-worm him. I'll call my vet tomorrow to see what she recommends.

It would be good to hear back from you whether it makes a difference, Steph.

Hope you get to the root of the problem.

So I called the vet and those pills are now RX only and they make them have all vaccines before prescribing them.
Chuck and Kitty haven't had their distemper shots since November 2014. The vet said it wasn't necessary every year on older indoor cats. She said after so many years of booster vaccines they develop immune responses to the virus and don't really need the boosters once their body takes over.

Well, looks like Chuck and Kitty-cow will be going to the vet in the near future for vaccines. I'm not doing it right away because I don't think they have worms. If I see any signs of them I'll take them sooner.

Any one use an OTC brand that is safe for our sugar kitties?
