So Tank has been testing yellow consistently. From my understanding I should bump him up .25 U? Here is a previous thread with some Q&A. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/remission.193111/#post-2161542
I think my vet follows the canine formula from the hints I've been getting. Tells me only to do a curve once a month with spot checks here and there and to drop from 7 to 6 and 6 shouks be his number for now??? Just didn't sound "sound" so I'm going with SLGS myself. ThanksSince Tank's total dose is over 5 units, he should go up to 6.5 units next. Vet's very seldom think in terms of small dose changes, going down to 6 units was too much of a drop.
Have you decided yet if you would like to follow SLGS or Tight Regulation for dosing? Putting Tr or SLGS in your signature will help us help you and Tank.
SLGSAre you following TR or SLGS?
I am seeing all this now since joining this group. The vet was only dealing in whole units and was initially asking me to do curves 3-4 weeks apart and report back. No mention of preshot checks Nadir or anything. So I have learned a lot here.Since Tank's total dose is over 5 units, he should go up to 6.5 units next. Ooops. Must have missed that PM entry. New to tgis spreadsheet too. ThanksThanks for putting SLGS in your signature. With SLGS you should hold a dose for one week before increasing, but there is an argument that you decreased by too much last time.
Out of curiosity, there is no dose for the PM cycle of the 29th in your spreadsheet. Did you skip that night? If so, could you put skip or NS (no shot) in the units column, so we know it was deliberate instead of just missing the entry. If you did skip that night, the depot would be depleted and you wouldn't see what 6.0 units can do until tonight.
My vet also started us on Caninsulin (canine =dog), now rebranded as Vetsulin in the US, and we went up by whole unit amounts. A lot changed, she learned with me. I was also the first home tester, though she was glad I did.
So should I be waiting the full week to adjust up .5 or adjust now based on the results?Good to know you shot that night. Looks like this dose isn't enough insulin as the depot should be full.
So I've been away a bit on vacation but had kept up with testing prior. Started a curve today and the numbers are looking promising. He's definitely acting different as well. Not always begging for food and not urinating as much. Crossing fingers!SLGS suggests waiting a week.
Those are all good signs! So is the low blue, great day for a curve.
