Hello! We haven't posted in a long time because things have been going along fairly well. Also don't have the current numbers on spreadsheet. Taffy's been good for the most part and I've been very comfortable with his care after 3 years on insulin. He's on a very low dose .25 to .5u

My question is about today. After getting a.m. pre-shot of 106, I did give his very small insulin dose, because I thought someone would be home early afternoon to give him a snack. This did not happen. Someone did not come home until after 5 he had vomited some bile and is refusing food now,w his BG at 287. I don't know how low he may have possibly gone if he went low and this is a bounce. But I'm not sure why he is refusing food. Is it common was to see loss of appy after a very low hypo (no one was here to check)? He does occasionally have pancreatitis flares, so this may be that but I suspect a bounce more. Is there inappetence after a bad hypo? he looks miserable and is in his bed currently I'm just watching him giving him little pits of water.

Hi Julie, long time no see. :) Scritches to Taffy from me.

Sorry to hear Taffy is under the weather. Have you noticed any other signs of possibly hypo? Or just the vomit? There are also other causes for vomiting bile. Has he had bloodwork lately? Sometime kidney disease can cause some vomiting and inappetance. So can some GI conditions, and of course pancreatitis. Feeling unwell, inflammation can also increase his numbers. Without any spreadsheet data, I can't comment on possibility of hypos.

I’d also add if he’s not better by morning, I’d get him to the vet. If he is having a pancreatitis flare, they can give him meds to make him more comfortable.

Yes, Taffy often vomits a little bile when extra hungry (but not too low numbers, necessarily). Usually morning. What was unaware today was the time, inappetence, and higher numbers after low AMPS. I'm just being detective, trying to figure what happened in my absence, but sometimes we can't know, I guess. He sees vet regularly, so far all has been good as far as kidneys. After discussion, we think maybe he got you hungry and are some vomit from another kitty here and it didn't sit well. Gross, but possible. W(now live with additional cats and one vomits fairly regularly if he eats too fast, due to

Oh, of course! Watching him and giving water, checking numbers tonight. I do have bupe on hand if needed. He can't do Cerenia . He had B12 shot yesterday.

Sorry, so many typos on my phone! Should say maybe he got too hungry & ate vomit (the vomiter has cerebellar hypoplasia).

Anyhow, thanks for your input, I'll update how he's feeling.
