So it looks like we need to go back on the insulin and I have 7 syringes left. The ones I have do NOT have 1/2 unit markings. I have called Wal-mart and Target and neither one have them, although Target can apparently order them.

Who out there sells these syringes? And what exactly does your box say on it? Brand name?

Walmart have them but they might not be aware they have the 1/2 unit markings on them... I have seen members run into this issue before. I use the bd ultra fine 3/10cc short syringes which I can get at most pharmacies including Walmart and Costco.

Walmart has them, they are just clueless they have them...they repeatedly have told me they don't carry them, but all their 3/10cc, 30 or 31 gauge, short needles have .5u marks...really they do. Just bought a box of 100 there about a week ago and they do have half unit marks even though they swore they didn't

if you go back to walmart - ask them to open the box so you can look at the syringe - if the pharmacist opens it, they may allow it- if not check the box, it should be listed on it

here check this out - http://www.relion.com/diabetes/syringes

see: NOTE: All 3/10cc syringes feature half unit markings. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR PARENTS CARING FOR CHILDREN WITH DIABETES.

I'll have to try Wal-mart next time. They told me over the phone they did not have the 1/2 unit markings. sigh
I did go to Target and they ordered me the BD ones with the 1/2 unit markings. they will arrive there on Monday and were about $26. I have to pick up my thyroid refill, so it will work out. Thanks for the help!

I get the Relion ones with 1/2 unit markings at Walmart as well. The box is white with a purple marking on it. I don't have the box any more, so I can't give you the number on it.

Looking at the Relion Box right now that I just picked up for Autumn.

Capacity 3/10cc
Gauge 31
Length 8mm (5/16")
short needle

UPC # 81131-0311-78

And yep they have half unit marks on them even though the woman behind the counter swore they didn't carry them when I send Jon in to get them the other day.

Walmart Relion brand here, too, and in looking at the box, nowhere does it SAY they have half unit markings. No wonder the employees don't know any better.

Go by the numbers MommaofMuse gave you. The only difference in mine, are that mine are 30G because they were out of the 31G, when I bought these. :-x

Best of luck to you and your Sugarbaby! :YMHUG:

OH and the Relion brand is less than half the price you are paying for BD, they are $12 and change, if I remember right. :-D

Walmart definitely carries them. The first time I went there, they denied they had half-unit syringes until he took them out of the box and he was all, "gee, would you look at that. I never knew!" Ever since then, whenever I go to pick up more syringes, if he's not working, I end up going through the same song-and-dance with the new person explaining "yes, they have half-unit markings." :YMSIGH:

The one that sometimes they don't carry with half-unit markings are the longer insulin needles (3/10ml cc capacity, 29 gauge, 12.7mm length). All the shorter insulin needles (8mm length), however, do have the half-units.
