Trey is now at 0.75 so what I did was fill to 1 unit them turn till 1 drop was out .It looked less then 1unit .How do we do it for sure 0.75 Thanks Kath

The photos are helpful but the truth is....you will never be sure that it is .75U you are giving. It doesn't matter though as long as what you give is consistant. The way you did it (letting drops out) is a good method. First use an old syringe and some juice or something colored. Fill the syringe to the 1U mark and squeeze the liquid out in drops. Count how many drops are in 1U. Then calculate how many must be in half a unit

So you have 10 drops in 1 unit
that 5 drops in 0.5 units
and 2.5 drops in 0.25 units

So your dose of 0.75U is 1 unit minus 0.25U Fill your syringe with insulin to the 1U mark each time and then let out 2 or 3 drops (you choose theoretically your dose would be either 0.8U or 0.7 units) you can call it .75U either way. Just always use the same method and your dose will be consistant.

Just a question If we cut him back 1 drop at a time instead of 1/4 units will it make any difference...If this time we cut him back 1 drop then when he gets another reduction we go to 2 drops can this work too DH does the measuring and this way it is kind of not guessing ??????Just wondering I am going to measure as you said see how many drops in a unit Also can we get syringes with 1/4 units Thanks good idea ;-)

You can do it any way you want. One drop may not be enough and you will be earning decreases every cycle or two, or it may be the best way (some people don't do .25U decreases/increases they try to make smaller adjustments and call it a skinny or a fat dose) whatever works, you have to try it and see. The important thing is to try and be consistant.

The 1/2 unit marked syringes do help a lot.

when I did this, I played with the where the plunger hit the lines (before, after, on) and then called it whatever dose. As everyone said, consistency is key. Whatever you determine to be .75 or .25 - just do your best to hit that same mark for each dose.

Thanks everyone will try to see which one works witk DH as he likes to measure and shoot so we will be aroung for sure LOL Kath
