Can cyproheptadine, as an appetite stimulant, be crushed and mixed with water or baby food, and be syringed? Would be so much easier!

Thanks,
Judy

Well, if you go to the upper right corner of the screen where it says Search and enter cyproheptadine, then press enter, you get this list. Scrolling through the list, it mentions pills, so it looks like it is possible.

Hannah's vet mentioned at our last visit that he could compound the cyprohedtadine for us, if that would make it easier to administer. By compounding, he meant that it could be mixed with a flavored liquid that she might like. I have also tried crushing the pill (she only gets an 1/8 of a 4 mg. tab) and mixing it with a little tuna water. She, however, figured out it was in there and wouldn't clean up the bottom of the dish where the crushed pill deposited. grumpy_cat

I place most meds in a gelcap and use a pill gun to adminiser the gelcap/ A #4 or $ 3 would be fine. I use #3 for most of my cats I can stuff Pepcid, metronidizole and budesonide in one # 3. $ 4 is smaller
