we are getting low on u40 o.3ml syringes, and our supplier tells us they are back ordered. Somebody suggested Walmart, but the pharmacist there didn't know anything about u40 syringes. Anyone know where to get them or have the conversion formula for using u100s? Thanks very much.

U40 syringes are usually sold by the vet. In some states you can get them online: http://www.adwdiabetes.com/ but they may still require a vet prescription. If you are comfortable with using U100 and the coversion chart, U100s can be bought at most drug stores and in most states don't require a prescription. (Be sure you get the 0.5 unit needles which you may have to have the pharmacist look for, but most have them.)

Here is the conversion chart:

Most people like the U100s because they are less expensive, easier to get and you can dose in smaller increments. But the conversions do take a while to get used to.

I use ADW for mine so I never have to worry about running out. They do need the initial go-ahead from your vet but after that it's fine. I didn't even have to send in paperwork. When I went to order I simply filled in my vet's information and ADW contacted them for me to get confirmation. My order was processed the next day. After that I actually switched from U40 to U100 to get finer doses and didn't have to update anything at all.

Thanks. I was told they are discontinuing the 0.3 ml u40. I am ordering u100s today

Good. I hope it goes as smoothly for you as it did for me. I've never had a problem with them. It's pretty easy and pretty fast shipping and overall a good price for what you get. :)

Tip: on a U-100 syringe marked with half units, every tick mark equals 0.2 units of a U-40 insulin, so you can count by 0.2s (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, etc).

ADW is great...they have them all at the best prices I've found on the Net...or locally. Very few other places carry the u40 3/10cc size.
