Syringe recommendation?

Hi everyone. I'm interested to know what you all prefer to use for smaller dosing, such as under 1u. I'm a little confused about what's offered online. I like to see what I'm buying. I went to WalMart as well as some local pharmacies and they all carry increments of 1u or 2 u as smallest. What do you ladies n gents use?

walmart does carry ReliOn syringes marked with half units. all ReliOn 3/10cc syringes feature half unit markings. however, there's nothing on the box to say they're marked with half-units. hence, the confusion.

many of our members use these from walmart:
ReliOn 3/10cc -- 31 gauge -- 5/16" length (short needle)

Hi, Maria, I use the ReliOn syringes that Jill suggested above.
The box has pinkish-purple coloring on it (the blue boxes don't have 1/2 unit marks); many Walmart pharmacy employees don't know about the 1/2 unit boxes ~ several times I've been told they don't carry them, and I've had to point them out ("You do have them ~ they're right there :lol: ). I haven't had any issues with these syringes.

I went there after work and the pharmacist insisted that they do not make them under 1u, only adding to my confusion.
 
Hi Maria, I use Walgreens Super thin II. They have half unit markings from 0.25u up to 10 units. Since we don't have insurance on K, the syringes cost $16 which isn't too bad. Good luck!
 
I like the Terumo's because the action is so smooth, but they don't have 1/2u markings. I measure using calipers so it doesn't matter. Some people don't like the Terumo's because it's easy to squirt out the insulin trying to measure, but I find them easier than trying stiffer syringes like the ReLions. I have a bunch of samples of the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Ultra Comforts with 1/2 unit markings if anyone wants to try them out. Let me know.
 
I also use the ReliOn Syringes from Wal-Mart. They have half unit markings.

The Terumo 31-gauge syringes do have 1/2 unit markings. I order them from American Diabetes Wholesale:

If your state is one that requires a prescription for syringes, ADW will call you and ask you to have your vet call in the prescription. You only have to do this once. When you re-order, simply write "prescription on file" in the comments box.

Good luck. These are excellent syringes. I didn't like them at first (switched from Monojects, which had developed real problems of accuracy), but now I wouldn't use any other kind.

HI Ella - thanks for the reference. We get our syringes from CVS and they happen to be Terumo's rebranded, so I wasn't aware. However, the 1 unit marked ones are so sloppy with where the marks are, that I can't trust them. I found some syringes in one box that were off by a quarter unit ... just because the markings were printed differently. I hope the 1/2 unit ones are better!

I use these too, and really like them. Once in a while I get a syringe where the plunger doesn't line up right, but for the most part they're pretty accurate, and the plunger is very smooth. I've used the the relion brand, but I didn't like them and neither did Zeus... He used to jump at shot time. I tried the BD brand as well, tried those first, I switched because they were more expensive.

I buy, and use the Relion syringes from Walmart. 3/10cc, 8mm short needle, 1/2 unit markings, 31 gauge. The larger the gauge number, the smaller the width. For instance, 30 gauge is slightly thicker than 31. I use the finest possible needle syringe as I try to lessen as much pain as possible while administering the insulin. Hope you find something! :-D
 
thank you all for your input. I went back to the WalMart that insisted they dont exist armed with the info you gave me and now we have what we need.
 
I also used to have to tell them they had what they said they didn't have ohmygod_smile I'm glad you persisted.
