? Syringe Question

My cat take 1.5 Novolin N twice a day. We we're given some syringes that I liked u100 0.30ml ones. However we ran out And I did not notice that be new box that I purchased is for 10ml and I'm not sure where to get the old ones from.... any suggestions?

Just what does the label on the syringe box say?
A photo would be very useful.
Your term "for 10ml" is not enough information

A 10ml syringe is 33 times bigger than a 0.3ml syringe. Are you certain that's the size? Could you check again and look for gauge size, needle length and a U number. The ml is the capacity of the barrel. If you're stuck with an unfamiliar syringe please tell us. @Larry and Kitties where is the conversion chart between U40/100.

First - take the box back and specify that you want .3ml syringes. I know its a bit hard to figure out all the data at once, but syringes are pretty important. Did you purchase from the vet or a pharmacy?

Before I go for the night if you're not sure, repost this in the forum for your insulin.
The pic in post #5 is a U100 0 . 3 ml syringe despite what the box says. A 30 ml would be for pony.

From my pharmacy in Switzerland... but I doubt that will help you much!

But today I opened another bag in the box and they seem better. Maybe that first bag was the last one they did before replenishing the vat of lubricant at the factory!

This is not at all an uncommon occurence with the BD 0.3ml demis.

BTW there can be a really big variation in the positioning of the printed dose markings on the barrels of the syringes - even between syringes within the same bag! Certainly something to keep a check on, especially as insulin dose requirements get smaller (hence the reason some members elect to use insulin rulers or calipers to measure doses).

I use Monoject syringes and will never go back. The plunger is thick and won't flex, they're the only ones I can find with a needle longer than 8mm, quality control is excellent. The larger tabs at the top give your fingers and thumbs way better control. I'm currently out and only have BD's. They're awful.

It gets very entertaining indeed when one is down to microdoses. I always kept a reference syringe so that I would be able to gauge how far off the markings were on each new syringe.

I have been wondering about this. The syringes that I buy from the vet practice don't do half doses even.

Those are BD Ultra-fine II short needle. . 25mm (31G) x 8mm

I'd look for those with the half on them if I knew what I was looking at.

In Ontario Canada those puppies are in every drug store and no script is required. Those are exactly what I use; (stating obvious?) 8mm is the length of the needle, 31 gauge is the thickness of the needle (higher the # the thinner) and 0.3ml (1ml=1cc) is the capacity of the barrel. There should be 30 equally spaced lines on the barrel so 1 line = 0.01 ml. IN MY CASE ONLY with Caninsulin 2.5 ml = 1 unit.
You are not required to buy anything from your vet that you can get from a reputable pharmacy. Walmart here I come.
If you have even the slightest doubt please just ask here.
