My cat Jag has been refusing to eat. He was treated for DKA around Memorial Day weekend. I have several threads over in the Lantus section about what was going on.
Since he hasn't been eating independently, I have been syringe feeding him now for just over a week.
The vet had me try Mirtaz and even Entyce, and it has had little effect on him. The Entyce made him eat for a few minutes, then we was done and wanted no more.
How much can you syringe feed a cat at a time? He needs to intake at least 335-350kcals per day for his size. This equals roughly 90 teaspoons when I convert the ounces to teaspoons. My syringe can hold 2 teaspoons at a time, and I've been doing 3 syringes at a time, which equals roughly 1 oz.
Can you feed more than 1 oz at a time, and how often should you syringe feed? I'm trying to figure out how to time it, since it seems like it will take a very long time to get his much food in him by hand.
