Hi. Switching from Vetsulin to Lantus tomorrow. Bubba is 12 pounds and has been on 3 units of Vetsulin BID for a couple days. The vet suggested a starting dose of 1.5 units of Lantus BID. Is that appropriate based on his previous dose of Vetsulin? I can be home all weekend and have a flexible work schedule so would like to try TR. Suggestions? Thanks.

Melissa, the best place to ask this question is the Lantus forum. Then the experienced Lantus users can advise. I am so glad that you are going to be around this weekend to monitor. If you would, just create a new line between the Vetsulin use and the Lantus use on your spreadsheet and type in Began Lantus or something to the effect. Then they can see how the Lantus is working as it builds up the depot, and after. Just be aware, because it's a depot insulin, you are probably not going to see any dramatic changes right away. I don't want you to be disappointed.

Crossing paws, fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes that the Lantus is going to help Bubba Bear get those numbers down and into lower ranges, consistently.

Hi you might want to just correct where you said in your post, switching from Lantus to Vetsulin. Your title is correct, just not the post.I hope Bubba Bears numbers start to come down

we recently switched from Vetsulin to Lantus, it's a different territory, much easier on the caregiver, the sugarcat too ...
