Hi All,

I am switching readers from Freestyle Freedom Lite to the highly recommended Relion Micro.

Lee Lu has been doing well, I've only tested her a few times since her last curve, but in the couple tests I've done, she's been in the 77-144 range on 1.5 u of Lantus 2x daily. 77 was in the evening a few nights ago, 144 was this morning. I'm still doing 1.5 u even with the 77 read.

To those who have switched readers, what should I expect? I will try to use both readers at once to see the similarities in reads, but I am not sure if Lee Lu will allow that LOL

P.S. I x-posted this in the Main page (sorry if that is not appropriate!).

Cross posting is entirely acceptable. I personally have not switched readers but do use the Relion Micro as my primary meter and love it. I do know from what I have read on the board that the Freestyle with the butterfly strips was found to be reading far too low than the actual BGs and several cats that were showing regulated numbers on it, but with very poor clinical signs were discovered to be much high and poorly controlled once the switch was made.

HI Mel,

Could you elaborate on your comment "...reading far too low than the actual BGs and several cats that were showing regulated numbers on it, but with very poor clinical signs were discovered to be much high and poorly controlled once the switch was made."? What do you mean by 'Poor Clinical signs' and 'poorly controlled'?

I'm still dosing Lee Lu 1.5u 2x daily even though her last two spot reads were pretty good. (I still need to do the xls). I'm worried that she is reading low on the Freestyle (hence wanting to test her simultaneously with the Relion) but her behavior is fine, except still more liquid intake/output than I think she should have (in comparison to her pre'dx).

Thanks,
Amanda

Sorry occasionally you need to grab me like that and yell "Again in English, Woman!" Especially if I've just come from a vet trip as I tend to forget not everyone speaks medicalese

Anywho...to be more specific the particular cat that comes to mind was Louie on the Freeystyle his numbers looked great lots of blues and greens but he was still drinking like a fish and flooding the litter box, his back legs were still weak and coat in poor condition. None of us could figure out why until she switched meters. Instead of being well into good numbers he was actually showing numbers in the 200-300s.
