Switching from Vetsulin to Lantus

I need some advice about the big switch to a longer lasting insulin. Sweet Pea seems to be dropping steeply and fairly rapidly on Vetsulin. It just doesn't seem to last long enough, so she jumps way back up again. My vet suggested starting on 2u of Lantus after I suggested starting at .5! She said definitely don't go lower than a starting dose of 1u because her BGs could go too high for too long. I am sick to my stomach over the whole thing! I am terrified to change! One of my biggest fears is of hypoglycemia. We've had two scares, and since she is such a picky eater, I am very limited in what I can feed her to get numbers up. All she will really eat are Temptations, and I just don't know if that's enough! And rubbing karo on her gums. But that's it! I have her AlphaTrak numbers in my signature, but here is a link to her Relion numbers (below turquoise line). Btw- how do I get the link to be hyperlinked into the phrase Sweet Pea's SS instead of the whole link?

We take the dose of the existing insulin into consideration when switching to Lantus/Levemir. I would go with either 0.75 units, or 0.5.

Are you using the AT or the Relion now or both? It's a bit confusing. You could always create a second tab on the same spreadsheet, and have one for Relion data, one for AT. That way they are both in the same spreadsheet. To do the hyperlink thing, first copy the address of the spreadshet. Then type the words "Sweet Pea's SS", then highlight those words. Then click the paper clip link icon, and copy the SS address into the pop up.

Thanks for the reply! I am unsure how to approach my vet. I think she is just looking up starting dosing without previous insulin info, and she is using weight to decide dose. I am using both and couldn't figure out how to make another tab. Sigh. I am useless! Will work on it. And thanks for the hyperlink info! :)
