Switching from Vetsulin, Starting Dose and Method?

I previously started a post here in preparation. Lantus will be here tomorrow, planning to switch Thursday morning. I will get some PM data tonight and tomorrow, last few nights not a good option as he was stressed from the laundry running.

I'm mostly looking for advice on the starting dose, and TR vs SLGS. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'd go ahead and start with 0.75 units of Lantus too. Some cats have a stronger first cycle or two, so we recommend getting a few more tests those initial cycles.

TR vs. SLGS - as long as you are feeding just low carb wet or raw food, the choice depends on you and your life style. TR requires at least 4 tests a day, 2 per cycle. Increases are done every 6-10 cycles, depending on the nadirs. The dose is reduced when the go below 50, in a cat that's been less than a year since diagnosis. SLGS you hold the dose a week, unless they go under 90 and earn a reduction. TR is more aggressive, so you need to test more. As a result, cats tend to spend more time in normal BG numbers which give better odds for remission, though it does happen with SLGS too. So the other thing for you to think about is what your goals are for Mr. Kitty. Regardless, the first goal should be regulation.
