I am transitioning both of my cats to wet food- they love fancy feast- so I'm going to stick with what they like. One is diabetic (and currently in the animal hospital- he stopped eating, and the dr there said he is in shock and the next 48 hours are critical). However, my other sassy feline is overweight and I would like to get that under control. She weighs about 16 lbs, my sugar baby was 13 when weighed this am, and I have purchased the 3oz cans of fancy feast classics. I SUCK at math (which is why I was in social work, and now teach English)- does anyone know the correct amount I should be feeding them on a daily basis. Thanks!!!

Cat Info has info on this here. That web site is pretty much our bible for feline nutrition.

Feeding canned food helps due to the water diluting the calories, unlike dry food which is energy dense.

I have had Fred on FF classics ( all at 5 or less carbs ) since before he was dx in Feb. I had given him a little Royal Canine diabetic dry , per vets instructions, to put a little weight on him, but his numbers shot up, so he is strictly on FF and he gets 3 cans a day. He is a big Turkish Angora and was 18 lbs before dx, he dropped to 15.5' and has leveled at a healthy 16 lbs.
