Switching food question

I'm switching Bama's food and I am wondering if I should transition her to a single new food then add additional varieties. The other option I am considering is rotating through the remaining 6 different cans of food I got for her to try just to see what she is willing to eat before transitioning. I don't want to feed her only one brand/flavor because she has randomly stopped eating certain flavors of the same brand before. I am currently giving her a small amount of a new food at mouse temperature then I put down her regular food a few minutes later. She usually doesn't even recognize the new food as "food" and if I try to entice her with FortiFlora she just eats the FortiFlora off of the food and doesn't touch the rest!

I'm currently feeding FF Classics chicken & liver and beef & liver but I want to switch to a food with lower phosphorus. The current (and only) winner is Weruva Glam 'n Punk (lamb & duck). She was actually excited when I was prepping the new food and started pawing at the cabinets! She also scarfed it down on more than one occasion. :woot:

I'm not entirely sure what specific question you are asking.

Are you trying to transition Bama to a low phosphorus diet?
Am I right in thinking she likes one brand of low phosphorus food only? Have you tried others?

Cats do tend to prefer a variety of flavours/prey in rotation rather than stick to just one. They get bored, and if they barf up one flavour (for whatever reason) it is likely to put them off eating it again for a while, so it's best to have a variety of different things in the cupboard.

If you mix the new food in with the regular, it's a good way of introducing them to something completely novel to them. If you gradually increase the ratio of new to old over successive meals, after a few days, you can stop adding the old, and just give them the new.
