Swelling by shoulders from insulin injections?

Hi all,

I think Miko is having a reaction to the insulin -- I believe from the Lantus, because I first noticed slight swelling between and a little below his shoulders right before he started PZI. Feels like swollen tissue, not a lump or anything like that.

That was 9/12. It's been a week and he still has the swelling, and today for the first time he started exhibiting some tenderness when he gets the insulin injections. The vet originally said to monitor -- it hasn't gotten any larger, but it hasn't gotten any smaller either, and I'm concerned that he now seems to be experiencing discomfort with his insulin injections so that's a change in the wrong direction.

I'm definitely checking in with my vet tomorrow on this, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

My poor little guy just can't seem to catch a break :(

Hope all are well.
Sarah

I do think some cats develop a sensitivity, especially if always shot in the same spot. Can you alternate shoulders or shoot a little lower down his flank?

I am glad the vet is on top of it. Since it seems to have happened with both insulins, it may not be connected with the insulin but something else? You might post on Health about lumps at the injection site?
