OK, that sort of freaked my out. I increased his dose to .6u (from .5u) this morning, but I lowered the dose to .25u tonight. I know, I know. I am treating it like a "fast" insulin. I just don't want to be up all night testing. I only have experience with Beau where I could definitely NOT dose a full dose when his BG was in the normal range.

He peed on the door again today. I wonder if it was BG related? I'll have to test him next time (I hope there isn't a next time). Yesterday I thought it was from dirty litter boxes (they weren't really dirty, but the level had gotten low in all of them). So today was new litter in all the boxes and he still did it.

I may have to up the prozac. I have to check out what is standard with that. He only missed one pill about 3-4 days ago, so I don't think it's that.

I understand that. I know a lot of people would have followed the 'protocol' and shot the full dose and stayed up all night or whatever because they are hoping to get their cats off insulin eventually if they can. I am not sure what your goals are with Jeddie though. I probably would have made the same decision here. To me it depends on what your goals are and how realistic they are for your cat.

My SS is hopelessly out of date as you know (crap I will get to it someday), but I am not thinking I can 'force' a remission on Tigger after all this time by shooting those low numbers. It is just not going to happen, not that I don't want him to be in good numbers, of course, I do. Although he is pretty dang healthy for being diabetic for seven years. :)

He is so lucky to have found you Sheila. I hope this is a one time thing. Who knows what it could have been to make him do that? I admire you for your patience and for loving him so much and for taking him into your home. I wish I had some answers for you. It has to be stress related of some sort, but how in the world do you figure out exactly what it is in his mind that is bothering him so?

Hmmm, just a thought, maybe an animal communicator could help?

I don't know, Pamela. I have "toyed" with the idea of an animal communicator, but I really can't afford something like that right now - and I am skeptical.

I try to give him lots of love and attention and play with him. He is so cute and loving that I can't believe he was given up - unless this has been an issue someone didn't disclose and couldn't handle. He started doing it right away (first few days) so I did ask the previous owner who said "not that I know of". How could you miss peeing on carpet and doors?

This has to be a better home than he had before. Still, maybe he feels like a bit of an outsider. I thought that was over with. Oh! I just had a thought! I just got (a week ago) two chairs from my aunt who has two cats. They have been out in her garage for about 4-5 months, under plastic tarps (the chairs, not the cats  ). I wonder if the cat smell from them is upsetting him? It was so funny when they were brought over here. I took the plastic off and there was a cat in each chair in 30 seconds. He was sleeping in one of them for a few days. I wonder.... so, what to do? Fabreeze them? I am going to make slip covers, but that probably won't be enough if that is the problem.

As for his BG - I would love him to go back into remission. One less thing for me to deal with. But realistically, I don't know if that can happen. He was a little high this am (mid 200s) and then 145 tonight. I just bought 400 test strips on eBay, so if he is going to go into remission, he'll do it right after they arrive! Vicky reminded me about not ordering strips through the mail with the temps will be below freezing, so I decided I should get a bunch now. I wanted about 250-300 to get me through Feb or Mar, but these were a great price and the seller lived in Beaumont, TX, so I figured it was meant to be :-D

A little while ago Beau and Jeddie were washing each others faces. It was so cute! I did not have my camera in reach and it lasted only minute or so. I have not seen them do that before.

I bet the chairs caused a response. Cats aren't conscious of things the way we are, theirs is an auto-response system. They smell something different and they react as nature tells them to - "I smell a different cat, therefore I must pee on the door to make it go away."

Silly, I know. Not sure how to get rid of the odor, Febreeze might be a start.

I believe we just got strips from the same person! I also got 6 boxes from someone in TX, don't remember it was Beaumont or not, that's funny! Mine came last Saturday, and it stayed above 36 degrees!

I think they "mark" to overpower the other scent. Like, "my pee is newer that yours so this is MY territory!" Fingers crossed, he has not peed since that second day. Also, I go the regular flavored pill pockets and he is back to eating them... for now.

My strips came from someone named Paula Stillman.

Sorry Sheila , cant really offer a suggestion,(except maybe up the Prozac?)
just really want to say I admire the patience and love you offer your kiddies--i find it awesome and inspirational.
I think of you , and others here, sometimes when i am at my wits end with Buddy.
