SureComfort syringe zero line doesn't line up

I'm using SureComfort U-100 syringes with half-unit markings

I'm finding the majority of them, the zero line does not line up properly when the plunger is fully pressed in. I've been sifting through them and using the ones where it does line up, but, I'm left with just as many syringes where it doesn't.

Sometimes it's perfect, sometimes it's only a fraction out, and occasionally it looks like nearly 0.25U out of line.

Did I just get a bad box? Or is this is a common problem with this brand?

That isn't uncommon. I just look before I use each syringe and eyeball the needed correction I have to apply when drawing up the insulin.

we've tried many brands, all seem to be like this. Some worse than others, some boxes worse than others.

I figured that might be the case. It's not like such a small discrepancy matters for human doses. Thanks for the bad news both!

I use the Relion syringes from Walmart and have that problem all the time. I feel like I would go crazy if I minded it too much because it's so hard to find one that's "just right." So I just go with the flow and measure my dose like normal, but I understand some people on here really fine-tune their doses and give micro doses so it's important to them.

one option is to use digital calipers

Drawing 0.25U with a zero line that doesn't line up is terrible. I think I'll make an example syringe with some colored liquid and just copy that each time. If that doesn't work well... maybe calipers is my next step.

yeah, I started tossing just about every other syringe. What a waste.

The box I got started out good and then by the end I was only getting 2-3 good ones out of 10. I'm guessing a human diabetic would be fine with the rejects, they shoot much higher doses so a fraction out isn't really going to make much difference for them.
