Hi everybody!
I would like your views on some supplements for diabetic cats.
I started Rocky on chromium but I'm considering adding vanadium and pancreatic grandular extract (bovine).
My understanding is that diabetic cats have compromised immune system and not well functioning pancreas.
There are pancreatic enzymes supplements available to treat chronic pancreatitis but I believe that grandular extracts are more gentle. I think that in case of acute pancreatic attack these supplements would be harmful as the pancreas would produce access of digestive enzymes which would start digest the organ itself.
I would be interested to hear your views on this and what supplements you have tried and what results did you see.

I was looking forward to this thread going somewhere. I'm a little apprehensive because supplements are so unregulated in Canada. Too many humans think if one is good, two is better! Duh.

Hi!
Standard process makes pancreatophin which is supportive of the pancreas. I do believe it is a glandular.
It did not work very well for Dre however ECID-
I would be happy to send you what I have left to try. If you are interested send me a PM :)

Thank you for your kind offer but I'm in UK so sending a parcel from US would be a bit costly.
I will look into Pancreatophin, SP supplements are very good, I thought that they are available only through their practitioners.

I used B12 and then for a bit I used Blood Sugar Gold (has slippery elm bark in it). Saw only minimal improvement with either, but did not use for a long period of time.
