I just found out that the Purina ProPlan Vet Diet DM Savory Selects I've been feeding Bear since he was diagnosed has 10% carbs!! :banghead: Does anyone have any recommendations for a good low carb wet food that has gravy? Bear loves gravy and it's the first thing he eats, so I dissolve his Zobaline into the gravy before mixing in the chunks and adding water, and it's a good way to ensure he gets it all into his system first thing in the morning.

I used to feed him Tiki Cat (various varieties, but mainly Succulent Chicken - 0% carbs with gravy!) but he was also on dry food then and I'm worried he won't get enough fiber from the Tiki Cat alone (0% max fiber content :(). Any suggestions? I remember reading something about adding pumpkin to increase fiber - anyone have any experience with that?

Hi! I have a cat with similar tastes who tends to get constipated. I recently found Fussie Cat Super premium chicken with chicken liver in pumpkin soup. It is only 5% carbs, plus 69% protein and 27% fat. Since my cat has been on it the past couple weeks he is perkier and licks the plate clean. Also able to poop with the added pumpkin. You can find it on Chewy.com.

That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for! How much does Maxwell weigh and how many cans do you feed him? Bear's ideal weight is around 14 lbs (he's a big-boned boy ), so according to the feeding instructions it looks like I'll need to feed him a little over 3 cans/day, but that seems like a lot...?

Maxwell is also supposed to be 14lbs! However he is only about 11lbs now, so I am feeding him 3 1/2 to 4 cans a day. It does seem like a lot, but it looks like chicken soup so it probably doesn't have the bigger calorie count. I feed Maxwell 4 to 5 times a day because he also has GI tract issues so he gets small meals throughout the day, so 4 cans a day works out for us. They are small cans. Max scarfs down one can in one minute, so I don't think Bear will complain. :)

I posted something for you I found on the Chewy site about the calories and how much to feed hope this helps

of course you can simulate gravy by adding water or chicken broth (unseasoned) to the canned food -- I just about have to, Catcat has a tongue deformation and had trouble eating globs of food, or drinking plain water -- he is okay with stringy things but not masses, he would have to lick those apart

check out the new Fancy Feasts with "soft centers" -- almost looks like gravy but the carb content advertised is very low
