I shot my first GREEN last night. What a ride!!! I had FF's Gravy Lovers (salmon and chicken) as my HC food. Tiki liked the gravy but not the actual food. He really prefers the pate so I ended up adding karo to his regular LC food.

Just wondered what options are out there for HC needs and if y'all had any good (sneaky) suggestions if you too have a Mr. Fussypants!

You don't really need to give the solids in HC food -- it's the gravy that contains the carbs. You can always put the gravy on LC food. FWIW, I use either honey or Karo or, on occasion, gravy on LC since Gabby's GI track isn't always happy with gravy (no matter how much she likes it!).

Morning Tonya,

What Sienne wrote is true - the gravy contains the carbs. When I need to bump Mannie up often I will just give him the gravy, as he prefers it, and he really doesn't need all that extra food - being a little on the chunky side. What's left over I give t the civvies.

I too use the FF Gravy Lovers - all varieties, most run in the 14-15% range for carbs. When I need a little bit more of a boost I will feed him FF Beef (or Chicken) Feast in Gravy - which runs about 18%. there is more food in it than with the Gravy Lovers though. There are a couple of Friskies foods out there that are in the 22% range, contains a lots of gravy, but for the life of me I can't remember which ones. For Mannie, the 18% was high enough. You can always add the gravy to your LC food too if you want. As things begin to level out for Tiki you may find that it well take less carbs to bring numbers up. Mannie is at a point now where, for the most part, I rarely need to go over a 10% food to bring a number up. As an FYI - it did take us a while to get there. For us, I never use karo unless the numbers are extremely low, like the 30's and I need an immediate boost. I've found, for Mannie, that just an appropriate food will do the trick - ECID, and you may find that, as with Sienne's Gabby, that you will need a karo, or honey.

Good luck!

And VERY COOL on your first green, and with shooting it! Those get easier as time goes on. The first one is always akin to OMG!

Have a great day today!

High carb is any food over 18% so take a look at the charts, both Binky's charts and the newer one.

Fancy Feast has several high carb gravy varieties. I used to buy a case of the gravy ones to use for hypos.

I've also used the junky Science Diet canned which are like 26% carbs

You could also use Vita Gravy on top of the canned food. The gravy contains honey and flour, among other things, so it's probably high in carbs.
