Hi,

My cat Guinness had an ultrasound yesterday that revealed a SLIGHTLY inflamed pancreas. No definitie diagnosis was made. I'm thinking a slight change in food might be in order, but keep in mind I am seeing NO symptoms of pancreatits. No vomiting, lethargy, burping, etc. He's eating like normal, as hungry as ever. He has recently come out of a two year remission with his diabetes and we are trying to narrow down and eliminate causes.

Right now, I feed him and his brother, Harp (Civvie) 1/4 can of Merrick Cowboy Cookout 4 times a day with supplemental baked chicken thighs as snacks for testing. I also sprinkly a Halo Chicken treat on their food. I've tried raw in the past, Nature's Variety, homemade with TC Naturals, and Stella and Chewy's, but they never really take to it. I'd like to maybe try a slightly cooked and supplemented recipe, but I'm not sure where to start. I'd consider changing to another brand of canned, but again, not sure where to start.

They've done very well on the Merrick but lately, Harp, my civvie, seems a little off too and I'm wondering if it's food related. They've both had recent Senior Panels that came back fairly normal (aside from Guinness's elevated BG).

Any food suggestions would be appreciated. One last thing, I have looked at some research links that some people have posted, but haven't found a direction to go in for food. I'm looking for personal experience as to what you are feeding if you have a cat with Pancreatitis. Thank you

Hi Linda, I stopped feeding Tigger canned food and switched to raw about four years ago. This was after a pancreatitis attack and when he subsequently was diagnosed with Triaditis (pancreatits/IBD/Liver disease). He hasn't had any issues since. Is it because of the switch to a raw diet? I don't know, but I would like to think so.

So that is all I can suggest. But I also wanted to give you this really good link titled, "Easy Raw Feeding for the Busy Person". An excellent site that offers many different raw food company choices plus tips on how to easily make your own (be sure to also read page two). Hopes this helps:
