Hello Lantus Land!

I have been super busy since Lucy has been OTJ, so I haven't posted at all....I have been reading the forums almost every day and trying to keep up with everyone! I finally have a few minutes so fired up the laptop and thought I'd post some pics too!

Lucy has been OTJ now for a month and she is doing AWESOME! I have done random BG tests at various days and times and she seems to be a in the 75-100 range each time! She is continuing to put weight back on, and is as playful and snuggly as before! Her civvie sister Ethel is also doing well, she looks a bit slimmer, but is still a solid ball of kitty. She has a new laser pointer toy, so hopefully we can work some more exercise into her day!

Now on to the other news....my mom fell today and broke her leg in two places ohmygod_smile which means we are inheriting her drooler Molly for at least the next 8 to 10 weeks if not permanently! This may prove challenging as Molly has yet to meet a cat! She has met our drooler Logan, but they are both only dogs, so I feel there may be some jealousy issues! If anyone has any tips on how to deal with the blending (again) of our fur family I would love to hear them!

Oh, and OT....any thoughts about how to prevent the droolers from stealing 'tootsie rolls' from the LB?? @-) sooo gross....Logan does it and the one time Molly got into the house, she beelined for the boxes! Right now it looks like we are going to convert a closet in the basement for the LBs, but that isn't our favourite idea!

Here are a couple of pics of Miss Lucy from this past weekend

Our dog (also Logan  ) does like the tootsie rolls. He also likes the baby diapers, but that's OT! Anyway, I finally got a cat door in my laundry room door. Now I have the litter and feed the cats in there. Cats can fit through, dogs can't! Works unless the dog is cat-sized.

Congrats on OTJ! Glad it appears to be sticking!

CONGRATS to you & Lucy on 1 month OTJ!! :RAHCAT

We have the same 'tootsie roll' problem with our droolers... and a few different solutions. We have a closet with a cat door cut into the door and we have a box in there. We also have 2 litterboxes that are housed in large plastic storage tubs with lids, again with cat doors cut into them. Finally, there is this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=4017038 the stairs prevent drooler access, but this box is not accepted by all of my cats.

On introducing droolers to cats, sloooooowly is the best way. If you can use a baby gate to separate them but let them see each other, that is ideal. Also, let the dog see you interact with the kitties and she will learn to be gentle with them to please you. Dogs will usually work out their own problems, I wouldn't worry too much about Logan!

Good luck with the new addition :-D

Cute pictures of Lucy and congrats on the one monthiversary.

I have a friend with the same tootsie roll problem. She has a baby gate into the laundry room where the litter box is. The dogs don't hop the gate but the cat does.

Thanks for all of the suggestions....we have a barrier already that we think Logan is either jumping over or going through the cat doors (hubby made them extra big lol) We may just make a taller barrier with smaller doors lol

We will try the LB in a storage tote idea too, and possibly the small cat door in the closet...my ladies were not big fans of the 'hooded' boxes, but will see if the storage totes are more acceptable!
