Last week Morris started initial treatment for diabetes. His glucose was 600 then it continued to lower to 300 for days. Now he is back up to 600 but still acts better than before he received insulin. Is this normal to have to adjust insulin dosage?

What insulin and dose?
What are you feeding?
When in relation to shot time were the BG taken?
Taken at home or at vet? Vet stress can raise BGs by 100 (USA) or more.

Most of us here test or cats blood glucose at home using a human meter. We test before each shot and periodically between shots. We record our reading and other info in a spreadsheet. See:http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...te-a-ss-and-link-it-in-your-signature.130337/

After food at vet. Prozinc 3 units

Hi, typically, ProZinc doses get adjusted, if needed, after 3-24 hour cycles, so 3 days. It takes time for their body to learn to work with the insulin and process it. Are you home testing?

The protocol that we put together for ProZinc is in my signature in blue. It may be helpful.

We would encourage you to test at home and to get tests mid cycle. That will show you how low the insulin takes him, and might help to explain some of the higher numbers.

What food are you feeding? We have found wet low carb foods can make a big difference in levels, often -100 points. A vet explains the value of wet low carb here : www.catinfo.org

Let us know how we can help.
