Hello to all... MY user name is ohbell and my sugar baby is BEAN! She is 8 as of April 1....I have been conversing on the main board but thought I would drop in here and post for a moment...
I do not know how to do the spreadsheet for Bean yet, and believe it or not, have only been testing since 5/10... Bean was told she had diabetes on 4/23 and she received the newbie kit just days after... I was sooo scared to pokey poke and thought I could just go by the doc. instructions... She uses the pzi bcp - 100 unit syringe and 1 unit at first... did the curve 1 week later at the vets.... highest was 506 and he doubled it... i did not.
Now that I found and put on my 'big girl panties', I test that precious little ear ALWAYS BEFORE I SHOOT! See, I learned a great lesson as the first time to really pokey poke was +2 after the shot.... she was 26~~~~~~~ OMG! +4 she was only 28! with lots of carbs, quick acting sugar, and my dearest found friend LORI...
We stayed up and at +5 she was still only 42....
Her numbers are not regular at all... which I have today written down all of the information that was in the machine....
I dont know if I am tooo new to be posting on this board or if I should stay on the other but I really could use some advice. I would like to post the chart that I do have...
5/10 - pm - no reading! 1 unit
5/10 - +2 = 26
5/10 - +4 = 28
5/10 - +5 = 42
5/11 - am (+12)= 315 - no shot
5/11 - pm (+12) - (no reading as i had no electric in the home due to a bad storm) - no shot
5/12 - am (+12) = 339 - skinny unit (just shy of full unit)
5/12 - pm (+12) = 52! eeeeks
5/13 - am (+12) = 279 - no shot
5/13 - pm (+12) = 244 - no shot
5/14 - am (+12) = 412 - .5 of unit
5/14 - +4 = 54~ not again!!!!!
5/14 - +8 = 157
5/14 - +12 = 261 - no shot

I dont know if I am using all of the correct terms here, Lori has tried to help and I have tried to read and remember.... but.... I am also having problems with my other little girl, Gumpy.... She seized again after she came home from the vet this am!!!!!! SO< she is back in the emergency room til Monday AGAIN!
So, please bare with me on the right terms and if I have said anything that someone doesnt understand, please ask and I can explain....
When I spoke with the emer. vet tonite about Bean, She suggested I not shoot cuz of the low number again today after 4 hrs.... I agreed and will wait and test test test - did i say TEST tomorrow in the am and advice again before I shoot. They are going to let me bring her, with my tester, up to them and compare the two ... They are such wonderful people!!!!
Bean is enjoying her day, sleepy nap time right now but seems ok... no going to the pottie alot, not alot of drinking, her eating seems a little much>>> but I will just have to watch that.... I want to get her # more regular than this... One of the techs at the emer. vet suggested that she might have a look at the pancreas... as there could be something wrong with it (she had a kittie that developed a mass and was acting up w/ numbers, thinking he was diabetic and that is what he had) Might ck into that as well....
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAY BIG HUGE PRAYERS FOR HER SISTER GUMPY!!!
tytyty for all the help and I hope I am not too new to try to PZI!

Hello Bell! No you are not too new to post here. This is a great place for advice. I "watched" some of the excitement you had the other night unfold. So glad it turned out ok! I'm way too new here to give you any advice though. Just wanted to say hello & you're in the right place. Sending out lots of good wishes for your civvie Gumpy also! :YMHUG:

Hi Bell, I was just thinking of you. Really happy you are here now.
I gotta go back and read your post now. :-D

Welcome. I've been following your posts on Health. You are getting wide range of numbers. Since Bean is going soooo low on one unit, I would go to .5. Maisey was prone to going very low. I think she was just stessed with a cold or something and with the diet change to low carb wet and her sneezing reduced, her body was less stressed so the BG wasn't getting as bad.
There are pretty good instructions under the technical tab that help a lot with doing the spreadsheet. It is a challenge especially if you haven't done much with excel or other spreadsheet program. But if you print out the instructions or have two windows open it is much easier. You are giving the information in a pretty good format, but in the spreadsheet the information becomes easier to understand and to see trends.
This group is less active than Health, so if a real emergency comes up - do the 911 on Health and then copy and paste it here.

oh dear lord, big hugs for gumpy and silent loving prayer for peaceful and loving vibes for you both.

as for you numbers. the arrangement it correct save one aspect. the +12's in most cases are really +24 or even +36. remember it is always the number of hours since the last shot.

and dearest bell, did we not decide that .25 was the next dose....i could have sworn that was the decision.

Welcome, nice to see you here!

Just to clarify she appears to have gone low on the 0.5 as well (see #s up top) so 0.25 makes sense to me. That low was on a red PS too, so definitely dose reduction from 0.5 is in order.

Sending prayers & good thoughts for Miss Gumpy! :YMHUG:

oh dear, a .25 with a u100 insulin is sooooo tiny. it is half that 1st half line...so in essence nearly invisible. have a magnifying glass?
and i know you...you are not going to shoot tonight are you?
did you carb up that +4 today?

5/10 - pm - no reading! 1 unit
5/10 - +2 = 26
5/10 - +4 = 28
5/10 - +5 = 42
5/11 - am (+12)= 315 - no shot
5/11 - pm (+24) - (no reading as i had no electric in the home due to a bad storm) - no shot
5/12 - am (+36) = 339 - skinny unit (just shy of full unit)
5/12 - pm (+12) = 52! eeeeks
5/13 - am (+24) = 279 - no shot
5/13 - pm (+36) = 244 - no shot
5/14 - am (+48) = 412 - .5 of unit
5/14 - +4 = 54~ not again!!!!!
5/14 - +8 = 157
5/14 - +12 = 261 - no shot

Dearest Lori,
You are getting to know me toooo well... No I will not shoot tonite, and no, i did not carb up the +4... and it came up on its own...we actually tested the last one pretty fast and EASY! mommy was a little better this evening than earlier!
I cant even see the .25... checked w/ emer. vet to see if they had one, and they do not... but they are wonderful folks... spent as much time w/ me on Bean as they did with Gumpy.... took a copy of my 'chart' and ask me to call when i did the test at shot time..... they wanted to know what it was!!!!
the vet will come by monday... to my house ... to take gumpy's blood pressure so she will not stresss..... if she makes it that long.... she was docile by the time i got her there today, but before we could leave.. i requested she get to walk around one of the visit rooms, and she had another one!!!!! they got to see what i was talking about and gave her a valium... she should have given me one!
she will be there til monday am or sunday if she is doing better!
I might take bean in w/ tester and compare tomorrow!

Bell you are such an amazing mommabean. having the vetty-bean coming to your house...bringing bean back to vetty-bean along with dear gumpy.
I stand in awe.
what about that .25
why did you shoot the half unit.
did i misunderstand us?

Dearest L & Tom!
Just wandering if Tom wants to get married??? lol! got 3 lovely girls to pick from? Does he make goood money? Would want my girl taken care of ya know!
and the last shot was .5 not .25 and you are right, the .25 will be a guess at best but still less than .5! will ck tomorrow and see what we get FIRST ! LOL!

not really a guess bell, tom get .75 and that is kind of the same thing. between the lines.
and tom ... you do not know of tom yet. you have much to learn about tom. he is a legend. re: the marriage proposal
