Should I continue with the 1.0 units for another four day, or increase her dosage? It looks to me like she is showing the same pattern as before only this time I decreased her dosage....dosage increased, midterm numbers good, then finally numbers start to rise...raise dosage, rinse and repeat. It seems the ProZinc is wearing off at an earlier time each day. No ketones in the urine so far. I am really at a loss as to what to do since raising her dosages only seems to help in the short term. I could kick myself for not getting more midterms earlier on, so I can see what she was doing when her dosage was at 1.2. I suspect it was the same thing at 1.4, 1.6, and now 1.0

Hmmmm. Her number at night are better than during the day. And her preshots are about the same for both doses. What would you think about 1.2 for a few cycles?

What is different about night? Does she eat more during the day? More or less active?

She was more active when she was on a higher dosage then what she is now. Now, not very active at all. As far as her eating, During the day, I feed her about 1/4 of a cup after her preshot, and if I am doing midterm, she will get about a teaspoon and half of food, or double (if I wait for 4 hours for the first midterm), then wait two hour, and do another midterm...another teaspoon or so. I do this in the evening also if I am trying to do a midterm at +4. I do, however, after the last evening midterm put food out for both cats...maybe a 1/4 - 1/2 cup. I am sure that Gracie will eat most of Ebony's too. She isn't much active during the night either. Maybe it's the food left out at night that is causing the day numbers to be the way they are. Gracie never seems to get enough food though, and that is why I leave more at night. During the day her feedings are more controlled. I can do 1.2...do you think for a week?

Could she be eating less than two hours before the amps? That might mean a higher number in the morning. If she wasn't eating anything at night, that might explain why the evening numbers are lower than the daytime.

Just try it and see? The nice thing about ProZinc is that you don't have to hold a dose for a week if it isn't doing what you want it to.

I get up anywhere between 2-4 in the mornings By the time I am up, her food is already gone, and she is sleeping. I was up at 2:00 this morning, and she was still in my bed (she sleeps with us), and didn't have her A.M. meal until minutes after her shot (around 6:15 a.m.) She does eat at night. I leave food out for her and my other cat. It is during the day that I do not leave food out for her. Her food is controlled during the day, but not at night after I go to bed (I go to bed early except for recently with her dosage change). I won't be home tomorrow to get some of her midterm readings, so I will change her dosage tomorrow evening (unless my plans change). I will also stop putting food out during the night for her. Now that you mentioned her eating habits, my guess is she may be getting too much food at night (her food + most of Ebony's food, along with her food two hours before each BG's during the day) which may be causing high daytime numbers....I could be wrong. I will try it and see what happens. She may be sensitive to carb, and need an even lower carb food. Just grasping at straws here for now. Thanks so much.

The only thing that doesn't fit is usually if they are getting too much food, their numbers are usually higher, not lower. But make a change and see what happens. I would suggest making only one change at a time (dose or food) so you can figure out what made a difference.

Ok, thanks Sue.
