Hi all! My girl has been in diabetic remission for almost a month and a half! Her IBD has also improved greatly since we switched to Rawz rabbit pate. Recently though, her urine smells REALLY strong. An ammonia smell. She quit drinking water entirely around the time she went into diabetic remission, and this is also around the time we switched to Rawz (from fancy feast). We have water fountains, bowls, cups, etc. all over the house but she doesn’t care.
I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced this sudden strong ammonia smell in urine. The vet wasn’t concerned but I wanted more input since it’s so sudden. My concern is the Rawz food is maybe too high protein? She’s older so I worry about kidney disease. I also know it could be just dehydration but I’m not sure how to get more fluid in her. We’re deep cleaning the litter box weekly and scooping it daily but gosh it is bad. It’s enough I’m worried it’s ruining the furniture in that room.
She is otherwise doing great though!
