Hello everyone,
We have been out of touch do to a nasty storm/hurricane, but we did bond over the weekend, and we got blood!!!! I was never so happy!
I know these numbers are not a proper curve, and that is next, but I got numbers!
I spoke with a member on saturday, she knows who she is, and she helped tremondously, my first number I got scared, I thought it was to low, and didn't know what to do from there.
He gets his shots at 6.00am and 6.00pm, 1/4 cup wet, and methyl B-12 on top crushed, 3 mg. a little wet food left out for noon and midnight. On wet food he started 1/2 & 1/2 on 8/8/11, went to all wet on 8/23/11, and loves it!
Here goes....8/27...12.24pm, 6 hours after shot = 156
8/27...12.26pm, 6 hours & 2 minutes after shot = 168
8/27...5.36pm, 11 1/2 hrs after shot = 133
the storm started this night, so sunday, 8/28 i got me at 79 when I missed him, and then at 10.30am his was 146, THEN,
no more needles, no more road, bridge to house washed out, hiked railroad bridge to get to work today!

Now for our problem. I still check his urine, negative for ketones, positvie for glucose, and trace of blood. I called the vet who wants to put him on Amoxiciliin 50 mg for 21 days....she thinks it might be a UTI, and this would take care of it, it just seems like a long time to me, as a himan, they only put me aon antibiotics for 7 to 10 days.
any thoughts out there as to her reasoning?

thanks again everyone, we got blood!!!!

Typically it is not good to give antibiotics when no infection is confirmed. A urine culture and sensitivity is best by finding bacteria in a sterile urine sample is probably acceptable.
Was the blood red blood cells? Some sticks have pads for lyecocites (while blood cells) but that is not accurate for cats).

Oh Boy!!! You got blood!!! Doin' the silly happy dance with you! I remember the first time not too long ago - it's such a sense of accomplishment and CONFIRMATION that we CAN do this!!!

I am not sure about the red blood cells, the test paper is at home with all directions, will check it out though.
when they did his last urine test, they did a cystoscopy, and he had major red clood cells, but they told me it was from the test, I don't want him to have to go throught that again, plus the cost...
