After many attempts, many test strips wasted, an unhappy Thai (cat) and frustrated me, I got my first home testing ear stick results.
I reviewed again and again all the links that were sent to me on how to do it from the responses to my first topic submission.
The main problem was not enough blood (e-7 on Relion meter). i truly was ready to give up. I then tried the lancet clicker (had been trying it by hand), with a flashlight behind his ear and voila- a bead of blood. he shook his head and I thought all was lost, then it beeped and the results 307 came up. YIPPEE- SUCCESS. When he was tested a 10 days ago and it was 465 at vet. Since this is the first result at home, I am not sure where BG usually is. I will test again in the morning and again at night before dinner. Then I will begin Lantus when I am home Thursday to watch him.
I have changed to wet high protein/ low carb cat food since last Tuesday. So maybe this has helped a little.
THANK YOU FDMB friends who took the time to spell this out for a newbie. We are on the way.
