I'm NOT doing the "driping bag" method, I was only shown using the following kit : fluids (Lactated Ringers), syringe 60ml, hypodermic needle to fill the syringe, Terumo Surflo winged infusion set.

I remember seeing an enlarged picture of an insulin syringe used a few times…. Injection must have been painful ! I guess it's probably the same for the needle in the infusion set but vet did not mention buying more than the one in the kit!

Do I keep the same winged infusion set until the fluid bag is empty or do I get extra ones and how often do I change them?

I used these. It lets you measure exactly how much to give. Bought a box of 100 ct needles to use. Ollie got fluids 3x week. Vet said I could use the line for 1 week. Needles need to be new each time. Its like the insulin needles, they get dull and its contaminated after 1 use.

I think I used 21G or 23G needles

I put towel on bathroom vanity, used an over the door hook and hung it from track light in bathroom. Set up the bag, burette, flushed the line. Put Ollie on towel with a few treats and let the fluid run in. Ollie got 70 ml each time. Sometimes after 50 ml she had enough, I would let it be.

Unless I'm wrong you're using the "dripping" which seems to be a lot easier for kitties; vet is not promoting this but that's what I'll try, it's not as aggressive as dumping 60ml in 10 secs followed by another 60ml.... in their little body !!

I'm very concerned that his system is acting weird since a few months! His creatinine dropped suddenly from stage 3 to normal in less than 2 months without doing anything and his BG went from 187 to 385 in a few weeks; all this is not normal! I feel his body is fighting to live, probably fighting this cancer. Tomorrow I'm calling the ophtalmo, I want his eye to be removed even if BW is not great !! I think that's causing all his problems! Hopefully I'm not too late....
 
It's sort of a drop method. I left the line fully opened. The fluid ran like a tiny stream but using a small needle its not overly fast. Took 3-5 minutes depending on how well she cooperated.

the way you describe it, it sounds like you are sticking him twice and pushing a bolus in. To me that would be uncomfortable.

After fluids were in I would give her vital essential nuggets one at a time for a minute so fluid bubble could settle so walking didn't disturb the bubble. She would go looking for food right away.I

I hope you get help with the eye.

I'm preparing 2 syringes; sticking once only, give the 1st syringe then unscrew the end of the line, connect the 2nd syringe and keep on.
After fluids of last week, he's rehydrated (skin tenting test) and constipation is over. Vet had said to give fluids only when needed after that. I'll keep in mind your dripping method but I'm not sure Pepe would stand still 3 minutes... even with treats! Anyway I'll get some infusion sets and see if they have what's needed for the drip.

Stand !!!!!! Ollie laid down and pureed entire time. After first few timex, she knew being up there meant it was fluid time. They learn just like they do with testing. Routine is the key.
