Yes, another question that could much better be answered if i could just home test properly!!!

Anyway, so we've noticed for weeks, Dweezy has his evening shot around 6pm, eats well, and then within 15 minutes seems weird. Very quiet...his eyes seem unfocused and a bit staring...he seems extremely sleepy but also prickly if we stroke him a bit much. He then goes to sleep. We watch him to make sure he's ok. (He is actually ok, as when we stroke him while asleep, he responds and is alert and not "drunk" or anything, and if he walks during this time it's in a normal way).

Then literally 2 hours after, he wakes up, his eyes are fine, he's grooming himself, he seems happy and relaxed. Everything feels right again.

What is this!? It cannot be a nadir / too low BG surely! He's fine from then on, including 5-7 hours after, when the nadir should be occurring.

The only time he ever seems weird is within those first 2 hours. And it doesn't seem to happen in the morning either, only the evening.

Anyone experienced this?

PS. That J in the thread title is not supposed to be there and it will not let me delete it. Grrr!

Not sure what that is. I never noticed that with my cat on lantus-caninsulin yes but not lantus. Hopefully others will be able to chime in.

How much as you dosing now? Your signature says 2units but your spreadsheet indicates maybe 1. Although you might not be able to get readings it would still be useful to keep up with your spreadsheet. Put in the units you are giving, any things you've noticed, the food you give, any other medication. You will find it useful to review yourself and can see patterns, etc.

As you aren't managing to get tests are you monitoring other things (you could note them). For example how many pees, poos, amount of water drunk, playfulness, etc. also note down ketones

Maybe...though his food intake is always much the same day to day. Tonight, he didn't have the weird first 2 hour time thing, but rather seemed normal and good the whole time.

I kind of felt like the SS was only really for BG readings so i haven't been updating it. Also because nothing really changes. His urine glucose readings are always much the same, his poop is always good and daily, though i should add more of his water readings, since we measure that too each day.

Thank you!

See my signature link Secondary Monitoring Tools for other assessments you can report.
- water drunk
- food eaten
- dehydration checks
- urine ketones/glucose
- urine output
- fecal output
- grooming behavior
- play or other normal activity

The spreadsheet can be anything you want it to be. Whilst you might not think things change from day to day they do and to be able to look back and review when things worked and when they didn't is really useful.
