Stylish sharps container?

New to all of this an currently using a Ball jar. Drugstores seem to only have large bright red versions. Are they all red? Any small, nice looking versions? Something that would blend in on a bookcase? If I use my own lidded jar are their places I can dispose/mail it?

I don’t ever have children in my apartment so I don’t need something childproof.

What do you all do with needles and lancets?

I used to get yellow sharps containers at the pharmacy. Also heard of people using old laundry soap containers. Disposal rules probably vary by region, so you probably have to contact the local waste authority. Or contact vets or pharmacies to see if they would take them. I just returned a full sharps container to the pharmacy for an empty one.

You can buy needle clippers that can remove the needles.

Thanks, Wendy! Googled a better combination of words with my city’s name and found a local map. Looks like I don’t need a special container here, just something that seals properly. So, I’m sticking to the pretty jar for collection and will bring to the harm reduction center for disposal. The said any glass jar works.

All the places I have seen do NOT want them in a breakable container like a glass container. I use a coffee creamer container

I just bought needle clippers so I no longer had to worry about sharps containers. I recycle the plastic syringes

Larry - the place I found specifically said they would take glass containers. It’s a harm reduction center, so likely collecting intravenous drug needles more often so they may have different rules then a pharmacy/hospital.

You know, I'm going to have to figure that out. The needle clippers hold the clipped off part of the needle inside of them -- it's all sealed inside... and they hold so many needles that mine are not full yet and I haven't researched whether or not I am supposed to take them to a special place or dispose of them.
