I’m having a blank moment. Should I feed then check blood before am and pmps or check blood then feed and shoot. I’m also struggling to get blood at times and think that’s having an effect on lower numbers. Whenever I struggle with getting enough the numbers are low

Test, then feed, then give shot.

Are you heating the ear before testing? It really helps.
Thank you. Yes I’m warming the ear. Some times during the day I’m just not getting. Enough blood.
Mornings are always harder. I try and warm the ear. But can happen too during the day and we are very warm at the moment.

Stress can affect numbers, if you're struggling and the cat would rather be anywhere else the readings will be off. There is no scientific definition as to how far "off" is, we all deal with it. It just takes time to find what works for you. A lot of people sing to their cat, I know I did.
Hush little baby....

Your cat will also pick up on your stress. Singing will also lower your stress. Massaging the ear towards the top also helps to get the blood to flow.

after you poke if you see blood but, it is not enough blood - with your fingers hold ear on both sides of poked area and gently wiggle ear forward on one side and backwards on other side like you are trying to squeeze blood out but, not are not actually squeezing ear just wiggling ear around poke area. slightly more blood will come out, works for my cat every time, he too doesn’t bleed much in AM’s.

I also just massage the ear after I poke it. It has helped tremendously. Even if I don't see a small drop after I poke, I ONLY poke once and start kind of rubbing around the top and bottom of where the poke was. Then the blood starts flowing. Patience is so important. I wasn't patient at first and poked and if I didn't see blood I'd poke again and again until I saw blood! It was sooooo stressful and so much anxiety was happening. Then someone told me to BE PATIENT. Warm the ear (if necessary), poke, and then massage the ear around where you poked until some blood comes out. Don't poke again. And it worked!! And it's been working! Patience has helped so much; I thought I should be getting blood right when I poked but nope. Maybe this will help. I hope it does because I know how stressful this can be!!:bighug::bighug:

Agreed - You would think that the "wound" would stop bleed after just a moment but it will not if you poke, then massage then wait then message again it can show up on the second or third massaging. Also sometime I use a flash light so I can see where the vein is for a better aim

Noah wasn't much for treats but because he also got transdermal BUPE and needed his ears cleaned anyways he just melted when I gave him a warm and wet paper towel ear rub later.
