 I was *just* starting to get Joplin regulated, and NOW, not one, but TWO possible fur shots IN A ROW!! I'm so mad. It's hard with a long haired cat. I feel like the syringe is in there, I shoot, and then I smell the insulin in that area on his fur. Grrr...I think it might be time to give him another shaving, although I still feel bad for the last time I did it, because look how pathetic the poor thing looked...lol

Oh Cheryl... so sorry. I still give fur shots way more than I want to admit and I have a white, short-haired cat. Does Joplin sit still for the shot or are you giving while he's eating. I put Snoball on the table and he gets down in position and what I have been doing lately is to find a spot and spread the fur until I see the skin and hold this with my fingers and then I reach for the syringe. Before I was doing it with the syringe in my hand and it was all too fast and I was missing the spot entirely.

Don't let it ruin your day. You're a good mommy even if you give bad haircuts

Hahahaha  I give it to him while he's eating, and if I'm not quick, he squirms. I might just shave a little patch or something, I'm not sure.

Don't worry; I've been doing this for 10 months and I still give fur shots. You can try a different length needle. I've discovered with Michelangelo (also long-haired) that for whatever reason, I am completely incompetent when I'm using the short needles and I give him fur shots 50% of the time.

And thanks for that image! I've been wanting to shave Henry (my non-diabetic) simply because I've been having to shave mats off him on an almost daily basis. If I just fully shaved him, then I wouldn't have to do the daily maintenance for a while.

Hey, if Joplin likes those cooler summer haircuts, and it makes it easier for you to do the shot, give him another haircut. Or shave a patch on each side of him, to see better.

My eyesight is horrible in low light or even medium bright light. I couldn't see the blood on Wink's ears when I first started testing, so I shaved a tiny patch on each of his ears. Fur grows back in a couple of months.

Fur shots are inevitable and Joplin will get back on track quickly.

Maybe just shave in a collar or shrug pattern around the neck and shoulders. It'll look intentional and allow you to see more easily to shoot.

Oh jeepers BJM... this is hilarious. In fact, I am inspired now to run home and shave a paisley pattern in Snoball  I'll post pictures!

Have you seen the razored hair styles with the patterns etched in them?
Or the dog show clips for poodles and such?

There's some inspiration for you!!!
