Hello all. A friend of mine has a cat with struvite stones. She’s not liking the prescription food and we all know about that stuff anyway. Any recommendations for food? pretty sure low phosphorus is key but would appreciate advice from someone who may have dealt with this before.

Max blocked once and I nearly lost him. It was before I knew much and he was on Hills CD for a long time. Too long. The vet burst his bladder and so it was never determined what type of crystals. So I can’t help. He never blocked again or had crystals though.

Thank yo all. So what I gleaned from this - water is of the utmost importance which I think we all know at this point but struvite crystals are best treated with prescription food temporarily and after would be a low low phosphorous food ? I have the chart but does anyone know off the top of their head which would be best from experience?

My civvie Theo, Neko's buddy, had struvite crystals, though idiopathic cystitis was the main diagnosis. He was on CD for a bit, but Neko kept stealing it and it's way too high carb. His vet recommended raw as something both could eat. So low phosphorus raw (bone powder or eggshells and not ground bones) with plenty of water added. We've seen kitties here before with crystals, and I haven't seen a particular low phosphorus food better than others. Lots of Weruva products are lower P, but there are others. If you look at Tanya's website (http://www.felinecrf.org/) she has a food list sorted by phosphorus amounts.
