OP's first thread: New Diabetic

The Canadian food chart is here: Canadian Food Chart - PC Extra Meaty Line

Any food under 10% carbs is fine for a diabetic. Try different brands to see what your cat likes. You don't need any particular food for the pancreatitis although there is some anecdotal thought that seafood can possibly trigger pancreatitis. In general, seafood should be limited for various reasons (mercury concerns in certain types of fish, too addicting to cats, may not be good on the kidneys, etc).

Is your cat still on the appetite stimulant? To make food more appealing, try the tips here: Suggestions on How to Stimulate Kitty's Appetite

I would see about getting a tablespoon or two of low or medium carb food into your cat. The BG level using US numbers is 67. The numbers may be on the rise since this is the end of the cycle but I'd like to be sure that's the case. You'll also need to be sure that it's safe to give a shot at pre-shot time. I would see about using something that entices your cat to eat -- people food, crumbling a treat on the food, or anything that works. Getting your cat to eat is important so you don't run into other health issues.

Did the vet prescribe an appetite stimulant? With pancreatitis, cats often feel pretty lousy and getting them to eat can be an ordeal. Has the gabapentin been helping with pain? It's not a particularly good med for the pain related to pancreatitis. It's better for nerve pain. Buprenorphine is much better for pain management. I would hope the pancreatitis is improving and if not, you may need to check in with your vet.

This post on helping us to help you will provide instructions for setting up your signature and spreadsheet. I believe that Wendy provided our primer on pancreatitis in your previous thread.

In addition to what the others have mentioned here and in your original post, when my cat had pancreatitis I found nausea to be a big cause of my cat not wanting to eat. Did the vet provide you with any anti-nausea meds like Cerenia or Ondansetron? If not and if you are finding that Lilah is eating a few bites then walking away or licking her lips those could both be signs of nausea and I would follow up with your vet to get some anti-nausea meds.

As Sienne mentioned, crumbling treats can often do the trick, the Chicken Pure-Bites worked well for me. A few other things I had success with were raising his food plate up, often even holding it up for him seemed to encourage eating. Offering small amounts of food often is helpful. You could also try hand feeding, just put some on your finger or a spoon and see if she licks off the food, then hold the plate up toward her and see if she continues to eat by herself. Warming the food a little sometimes helps too. You could also try some vet brand Royal Canine Recovery canned food, it is low carb (3%) and I found that helped through some of the worse part of my cat’s eating issues during his pancreatitis. There is also the Hill’s a/d which a lot of kitties like, and it’s medium carb (12%) which may not be a bad thing if Lilah’s BG numbers are dropping.

Unfortunately the Canadian food list that Sqeem3 posted is quite out of date, the PC brand is no longer available as listed. I had some success with Boreal, I found it at Global Pet foods, but it is really really low carb. The Performatrin pates worked well, and I found those at PetValu.
