My best friend Debbie has a civvie who after drinking out or her water bowl will turn around and pee in it. She also pees on plastic bags that Debbie has around and her clothes from time to time.
Has anyone ever heard of a cat peeing in its own water bowl. Debbie has 4 other cats as well. I told Debbie I would post this question to the board as she does not have a computer.

I have heard of cats peeing outside the box could be a UTI
never heard of the water bowl though

Way long ago, when I was younger, , I had a cat that liked to pee on plastic bags. I've never heard of one peeing in it's water bowl, though. I wonder if she's trying to mark? it because of the other cats.
I hope you get some answers or ideas.

Some of the big cats will do that (per Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL).

Always rule out medical problems first: bladder or kidney infection, kidney failure, food allergies, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, estrus (unless spayed).

With multiple cats, it could be a stress or territorial issue from crowding or seeing strange cats through windows. Feliway diffusers may help. Thorough cleaning with an enzyme product such as Nature's Miracle may help.
