My Baby
Thank you all for helping so much! Taking her to the vet tomorrow Something else must be
going on?

1.) normal BG
2.) diarrhea
3.) sleepy/tired
4.) blood in stool
5.) not much thirst
6.) eating every 3 hrs (hungry)

Baby Girl Kitty. 11 yr old. Blind. Diagnosed Sept. 17: Just beginning again. Was on Novolin N -now on prozinc 1.5. Had cystitis, pancreatitis on initial visit. Home testing bg - relion. Eunucleation due to iritis & glaucoma. 2013 & 2014.

Aaaaw thank you - my sons cat looks like yours! Cute - I will post results tomorrow. I hope this new vet is good! (One my son uses) he said very smart & young. I will call in am

They kept her overnight. Testing etc... she had no problems (vomit/poo) all day & still normal bg range. I don’t know much yet? Thank you
Miss my BGK (baby Girl Kitty)

Baby is home. Normal BG curve. No insulin unless the polys start again. (Drinking & urinating). Has a UTI on antibiotics. Flagelle for poo & cerenia for vomiting. She did not eat while there so they did not have any diahrrea while there. Cost an arm & leg!!! But she’s better so I am better. ;) Thank you guys. No mention of a change of food or any other problems at this time.
I need to write her symptoms down to remember this!

@My Baby We're noticing a lot of very subtle things with Noah that may be vision related. Lately I've been dumping ice cubes in his water and he seems to see the surface better. Either way he hears the tray and he goes straight to the bowl. Can you tell me more about BG Kitty's eyes, when you're ready?

Sure. The first condition is called uveitis. If left untreated (difficult to treat in cats) can go into glaucoma. That is not curable in cats. Baby did not show normal signs or symptoms of blindness since one eye went in 2012 & the other in 2013. She could still see shadows (maybe more) until the eye was removed. Uveitis is very painful - swelling & ocular pressure. I had to take her to a specialist to treat her in Indianapolis. She was on several types of drops. If you notice a change or bulging of the eye, this is the main visual sign. Most cats will rub the eyes (not baby) & the sooner treated - the better chance it will not go into glaucoma. If you can look up uveitis- it will help to understand. I hope I helped with this long version!

All I can tell you is that if Noah is rubbing his eyes, they look different to you (pressure i.e. swelling, the third eye showing) then maybe. How old is Noah? Couldn’t find info. I also need to tell you that after going to 4 vets, they did not know much on cats eye dx. I was told repeatedly that I have to take Baby to Indianapolis, IN or Louisville, KY. Cat eye specialist. Cost = me crazy!!!! Must love my cat! Baby is a meower when needy, hence 1 1/2 hrs of driving & meowing!!! I am like you when overwhelmed! I get angry, cry or hide. My son took her for the 2nd visit! He can take much more than I!! Again I hope it’s just elderly normal seeing problems for him. This is also why I’m having a difficult time constantly testing her, she reverts to hiding & going into a state of “I do not trust you & I’m not even going to look at you” for a couple days! Sensitive like her momma. I’ll post more on the off topic page ... blind cats life ::: if you want to read about how a blind cat still functions happily!
Sorry I wrote a novel instead of a short story!!!
:)

Thanks. There are no visible symptoms like you described, just behavioral. Noah is a very different cat, spent his first 3 years in the bedroom and walk-in closet and no one knows why. He grew up with 8 other cats and a Border Collie, lots of love, no intimidation or alpha male theatrics, no kids or loud music. He looks frightened like an abused cat. Everything that he hates have two thing in common, loud noises and bright lights. He hates windows and being outside. What's strange is that lately when we open the monster fridge with 5 light-bulbs he stares in there. When I get a serious migraine I have to shield my eyes when I open that idiot fridge and the hardware store dude said I'm not the first person to ask for different bulbs. So there's that, splashing the water bowl to break the surface (heard that before, get a fountain) and now the ice cube thing. He has huge medical issues and travelling is so stressful he's been out of the house maybe 8 times in 12 years. This is when you, me and almost everyone else realize we know a lot more about cats and feline medicine than we think and diabetes is just one small part. He's like me, don't wanna be poked and prodded to see what might be wrong. Blah!!!

I’ve had 2 different cats that have patted the water i n the bowl. 2 that also came running when I dropped ice cubes in their water! What fun!!! Just crazy kitty’s. One was my Lizzie that I lost in August, 17 yr old, loved her ice cubes! Patted them, pushed them, then drank. Thyroid kitty, controlled but always lived to drink excess water. Sometimes because we see them everyday; we don’t notice the slow gradual changes. I suggest looking at pics from last year or so... do his eyes look different? I don’t understand the frig thing! Baby hates fireworks, no vacuums aloud! Was found as stray outside & wants to be outside always! I’m sorry Noah has other ailments, he is beautiful! His face reminds me of Baby when she

Here is right before 1st eye removed.... bulging eyes. Major color change where she looks as if iris is dilated. Never acted as if lights bothered her!?!?

Stupid fireworks. Hannah (dog) was loyal, smart and above all fearless. But running into the basement to dig a hole to crawl in and die finally got our vet to prescribe Valium. Taking pictures is a great idea, I hope I'm not the only one with a teensy bit of denial in my life. I'll have a good look at Noah today.

She looks exactly like Marco's sister would look, exactly!!!

The first pic (with tissue) is when we put a tissue on her head she used to sit on haunches & tear it to shreds with both paws & mouth! Playing Squirrel Kitty! Another talent was chasing mouse on stick with string toy, backwards high somersaults in air & always land with Mousey in her mouth! That was before videoing became the thing! I don’t think I even got a good pic of that!
Everyone in the neighborhood & vets always commented on her beautiful looks. Well we all have crazy things in us, I do- so why not cats & dogs. PTSD is real! More dogs hate fireworks than not! Idiot vets - yes indeed. Like when the vet I did go to offered the long term antibiotic shot for babys cystitis, & reading here about pain. Why not help her pain too? What gives? I need to be productive around here so... love the chat- any help I can offer is great by me! Thank you for reaching out to me with understanding!

Oh yes- I just never had a clue Baby could possibly be in pain with her eyes! Denial - sometimes

Noah's brother Nigel was the opposite of pain/PTSD/fear. I would spread out a beach towel on the kitchen table for injection time and thump the table, "Up Nigel". He'd jump up and let me poke holes in him. Travel-time was fun-time! He would walk from the front door and jump in the car, then sit in the passenger seat and watch the world go by. At the vet everyone knew him and he'd sit on the counter checking out the techs. I'm not sure if he had ever been crated. Kids adored him.nigel&hannah003 (2).JPG nigel003.JPG These pics are not Photo-Shopped.

So glad she’s home and doing well!!!

Sharon, i became worried yesterday when Baby hadn’t had a bm since I took her to the vet on Monday. First one way, then the other! I thought sure I’d be going back for an enema today!! Lol ...but Low & behold, I got up to a formed poo! Halleluja -Hadn’t had the nerve to test her bg yet. She actually went under my daughters bed to hide yesterday after her dose of antibiotic. (Never goes in that room) took me forever to find her! she’s so sensitive - like an elephant that never forgets- she ignored me till yesterday! Just wanted to say hi & thank you for being concerned. How is Colin. Me dad’s cat Tom Tom was close to his looks & color! Cool cat her was!

So Nigel was a gray kitty? Baby was very outgoing & close to that description of Nigel - depends on who’s around. Just her & I alone & she’s bold! So it looks like Noah likes your dog?!? Friendly & trusting? Both are just beautiful!
My Lizzie was an alpha witch (b word). The one I had to say bye to recently. She smacked Baby (along with several other cats over the past 17 yrs.) & was sooo jealous. She had a weird trait to suck (like nursing) on the tissue part of the hand between thumb & 1st finger. Vet said she was taken from her mother too soon. The day she showed up on my deck I sat down & she found my hand & began! I tried to wean her but she was “going sucky” till her last day! Her pacifier.
What other problems does Noah have? He looks so healthy? If you feel like sharing that at all. Ok if not!
English Shepherd? Anyway aren’t they wonderful to have! Loved all my pets so much.

Glad she pooped! Be sure to give her lots of extra attention that doesn’t involve a poke or any meds, that way she won’t think every time you’re around you’re going to do something unpleasant. Also remember lots of treats! If she likes chicken, cook some up without any spices and give her a bite or two whenever you handle her.

What other problems does Noah have?
When you fill out a form at the doctor's office, on your knee with a pen that doesn't work, and you need another sheet where it says "List prior medical......"
Noah's family of six is now just him mainly due to cardiomyopathy. More specifically it's a heart valve problem that's almost undetectable and even with ultrasound it's only after everything else is ruled out that a doctor may or may not believe it. It's called Broken Heart syndrome in humans. Some things we think are a myth like dying from a broken heart are literally true. We came home one night and found Noah's momma Zoe wheezing in the hallway and zoomed straight to our vet where they gave us an oxygen tank and told emergency we were coming. We made it to the next set of lights and it was all over, less than 45 minutes after we found her. She was only four years old.
Noah has an enlarged heart that has partially torn the cardiac sac, cardiomyopathy and all his teeth needed to come out two years ago. He would never survive general anesthetic so he gets transdermal BUPE for the pain. He's really our little miracle boy. Someone might be thinking we're just keeping him alive but that's not the case at all. He knows where and who he is, he's not in pain and he is loved. I know that all sounds pretty sad but we each have a story just like that, maybe without so much detail. Here's to all of us and our kitties and pooches that can't bear to tell their own stories without crying. I really have to go now.
:bighug:

:bighug:I didn’t want to make you cry! You all are angels on earth!!! Bless you! I have had real heart pains over family & animals passing. I know it’s true. I kept saying God gave Baby something (diabetes) to keep my mind off loosing Lizzie Lou. The first couple of nights I thought the grief would take me! I stayed up mostly because I couldn’t stop thinking & crying. I know they are happy healthy & whole up there (I have to believe that), playing & waiting on me! So ... all I can say is I feel your pain... sorry to bring such sad memories back!
Please forgive me! Here’s Lizzie, then crazy Baby - too much nip!

If you only knew how many people have said or looked at me with disbelief that I have a blind cat! What can they do? How does she manuever etc... Blind cats have fun too & it’s not just for me!!

Yes she loves her chicken temptations! I give very few out due to carbs & health now. I need to go back to the pet store & get more freeze dried chicken! Each time I cook chicken I save some in a baggie for her! Thanks & have a good evening Sharon

I’ve had a blind dog and a blind horse, both got around amazingly well! Lizzie was sure a cutie, and Baby is beautiful. You have a good evening too! BTW what would you like us to call you (if I missed that info somewhere, please forgive me)

Sharon, there's a show on PBS called Nature. Some are a bit lame but last year I recorded one call a Animal Best Friends. Amazing stuff about a blind dog adopted by a wild dear, a lab and a cheetah, a rescued circus lion and a coyote, and my favorite the blind horse and the goat. My mouth hangs open when I watch it.
This is the only snippet I could find. It's not the Odd Couple series or the guy that swims with alligators. And the opening song was Best Friend by Queen and that gets me going because I saw Freddie Mercury a few years before he died.
Becky. The dog is Hannah and the cat with her is Nigel. Nigel is Noah's brother. Hannah would have Nigel's head in her mouth and then Nigel would clean Hannah's face. Then Hannah would "do the corn cob" on Nigel's back. Looking for ticks? Hannah was a puppy when we got zonked with 4 kittens so that explains some of that. That's when we had 9 cats and I didn't know I had, da-da-da, neurological problems! Always wear a helmet kids.

Becky, you realize you're part of the tribe now? It's only been a little over a month. Do you know how to use all the snooping around features or how to tag someone?

I was born blonde - so clueless! Nope but I like a tribe! Tell me my friend! My crazy brain needs to ask if your profile pic is Nigel? Looks like it- in pics it’s hard to see any difference! Or do Noah & Nigel look alike? See crazy brain- I came out this way! Anyway they/he have the same facial features. Lioness, and do they walk with tails straight up? Babys tail always looked like a huge plume (feather duster) sticking up? Baby lost that with the eyes & I miss it!

I will quit with the sensitive questions so don’t alienate me! I clearly need help... lol- OCD -PTSD-perfectionistic (mostly on self) & just tooo sensitive for this old world. I use to say I’d give you the shirt off my back (not you in particular) but have been stung so many times! My sister once said “ if it wasn’t for bad luck, you’d have none at all” ! Enough about me!
Today is a test day w/Baby. Cooking her a little ground sirloin. Spoiled!
Sharon - did you see? I liked the video on the horse- I am Baby’s goat I guess. :))) I just do not watch sad animal stories much! I just wanted to cuddle that mourning goat . Hurts... but they had many years together! Thank you all for being so kind & giving me hope & faith.

I really thought the admin would fire me do to no ss. Also if we’re off topic then aren’t we suppose to talk elsewhere? I will learn to do a ss, I only have my phone - my computer is slow & I think ate up!

Going off topic happens a lot depending on what the original intent was. You'd never butt into a 911 and say that your cats looked alike. We're allowed to talk like this in this forum but it's probably better if we were in Off Topic but then you'd have to start a new thread and that can be annoying. I do it way too much, "Hey everyone, look at me!" But that's where you can bare your soul, share pictures and stories and cry on the keyboard. On the social side some people join up and then disappear into a specific forum because they're already up to their necks in their own life, they're not snobs. Then there's the PM/private message. You might make a new friend or it might be like a casual nod that becomes annoying. I personally think the best advice is not to expect an obligatory response and not to be surprised if the conversation dwindles into nothing. Scroll back to the top in this thread and see "Unwatch thread"? If I click that I won't get an alert that you or Sharon or anyone has replied here. If I told someone a month ago what meter I use and we didn't make any other personal connection then there's nothing it for me anymore and I un-watch, it's not being mean or stuck up. If Sharon goes away maybe she's buying food but she's always somewhere. That's where the snooping around secret button comes in. You can click my avatar and see what I'm viewing right now, my previous posts and usually when was the last time I was last time here. It can get a lot more personal, if you click on someone's location Google Maps opens up and that can go into creepy-land. If you have an unusual name, a unique occupation and I know what city you live in it really goes south because any idiot can Google that and add up 2+2. You can put a stop to all that right now by checking your settings and even choose not to show if you're here. Some people have their profiles completely blocked for a good reason. Part of the reason we all get along is because we rarely talk about politics, seldom talk about religion except for the concept of having faith and you'll never find someone stabbing you in the back on another forum. You've already figured this out whether you realize it or not (I know I sound like someone's dad right now). I'd rather think of you and Sharon as buddies, real friends help you move and you'd have to know my address for that. It's personal enough for me to see Sharon's chickens and you don't need to see my awful basement of filth.
On a much more positive note! Noah is the diabetic cat we have right now. Nigel, Andrew and Simon were his brothers. Zoe and Jacob were the mom and dad. Marco is another one of the six cats we have right now (looks like Baby) and Hannah is the dog. Dickson is my real first name (some Dutch thing) and if you look at my profile/information you might make some sense of what makes me this way.
The admin are a bunch of really mean people, right @Jill & Alex (GA) ? Actually it's all volunteer and they trust us not to ruin the house while they're away. I've said too much already (what a shock) and have a bunch of other stuff to do. I'll be back later.

Thank you for all the info! I do need to watch the privacy settings! Anyone could find me but not much anyone would get or want at my house! I have learned to be more discreet depending on the situation. I know this world we live in is not like it was. Anyone it seems can ruin your credit & get ahold of Accts. Those B words! Shh.. don’t tell I said that!
Ok so you may have to spell it out for me! Still confused. (What else is new, my daughter says)
The cat with Hanna is Nigel ...yes___ no___
The cat on the profile pic looks same to me; so that is Nigel too? Yes____ no____
You probably wonder how I even maneuver through life? I guess for my crazy brain I need to see the picture of Noah to relate? Like oh yes that’s his diabetic cat & does he look like Nigel, Marco & Baby. I don’t know why visual association is important for me. It seems as I get older I need to write it, hear it, & see it! Scary... have a good day! I would help you or Sharon move if I lived close & you asked!:)))

If I don’t write stuff down, I’ll never remember:confused: I’m not too worried about anyone finding me, but I didn’t include my town because it’s a small one and if anybody from here did come on they’d know who I was talking about if I told a stupid person or stupid vet story....
