Stinky 2 weeks!!

I don't want to get super-excited & jinx myself (or Stinky), but as of this morning's AMPS, he is 2 weeks without insulin! Who am I kidding? I'd be doing cartwheels around the house if I was able! flip_cat

I plan to continue to check AMPS/PMPS for a while-any suggestions how long? And at what point to go to once/day, a few times/week, etc? I'm going to be a nervous kitty-Mommy & don't want to go to testing him less often than I should be too soon.

Right now, he's eating Sophistacat & Friskies (usually only Poultry Platter, since Sophistacat has most of the same flavors.) I'd like to try to find him some food with some better quality ingredients/less byproducts, but my local PetSmart is very tiny & doesn't carry everything a normal-sized PetSmart would. I can order online, but want to make sure he'll eat it before I order a large amount. We do have a small, independent pet store in town that carries a lot of premium brands & is willing to order things, unfortunately, they also have premium prices.

Congratulations! Be sure to keep Stinky away from the pecan pie tomorrow!

I'm not sure about the testing. Beauregard was twice a day for three weeks while we tweaked food, now he's once every couple of days. But every cat is different!

After you find what food s/he likes and wants to stick with for at least a while, maybe you could talk to the manager of the Petsmart and see if they'd be able to carry the brands/flavors you need, or possibly order some for you? I think as long as its something that can be found in other Petsmarts, it shouldn't be a problem for a smaller store to adjust their inventory. But that's just a guess.

Parties needed for both Stinky and Boo! party_cat party_cat party_cat party_cat

Please put your remission stories on the thread above.

Re food - I think it is either premium ($$) or by products. I do know lots of people order Wellness and Merrick and Blue Buffalo over the internet and save money. Maybe a few flavors of each until you know which are favorites, and then order on line?

Thanks Sue! It's so exciting, but honestly, I still fret every single day! I don't suppose I'll ever NOT worry, but we are definitely super duper happy about no shots and cutting way back on testing!

The whole experience has really been a re-bonding event for me and Boo. I've always adored him, of course, but up until the diagnosis he was a very stand-off-ish kind of boy. He actually lets me pick him up for 30-60 seconds now without too much complaining. He's even jumped up on my lap a couple of times when I've been sitting at my desk or in my reading chair. He's never done that, ever! It is sooo cool.

Looks like we are going to be having lots of partying this weekend!
(yes I know, just another excuse for some wine!)
So happy for the both of you!!

Maybe it's something w/the black panther kitties...Stinky is aloof & standoffish too. However, recently he's also let me hold me hold him for less than a minute without it requiring a trip to a plastic surgeon. He's also curled up on my lap a few times & purred, which he hasn't done in several years.

When I first read the title, I thought someone had a bad 2 weeks  , but I'm happy to see tht both Stinky and Beau are doing GREAT! Way to go..

YAY STINKY!!!!!
And YAY ALYSSA!!!!

I love to see these posts.
