Hi, so I don't dose unless my boy goes over 200, in the last month or so this has happened maybe three times and just barely over 200 (202, 212, 206) and I only give .5 when I give anything. Other than that he has been staying in the mid to low 100's with a couple double digits here and there. Is he considered food regulated at the moment? I still test twice a day before he gets his breakfast and diner. Is it bad to only give him a little insulin so sporadically? My vet said he wasn't a good candidate for remission because of his age and not being over weight but I've recently found out my boy is his first diabetic cat. Most of the information I have I've had to find her or through research myself so he's not a great source of information. His fructosamine test came back at 279.

It is really hard to give advice without some test results. If he is in the low 200s at preshot and double digits or low 100s at midcycle, then yes he would be considered regulated. Which is wonderful! If you'd like some help possibly getting him into remission, I'd suggest you start a spreadsheet to keep track of his levels. Here are the directions: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

And post daily with your levels and get advice about dosing. If you have data, you might be able to start dosing under 200.

Thank you! I'm on my phone right now but I'll try and give the chart a crack when I'm on my computer. I've tried before buuuut I'm not exactly computer literate! Haha, I'll give it another shot though :)

Those are good sounding numbers! Once we get a look at your sheet we can probably help more. Sometimes they just need a little tiny dose for a bit to push them into remission.
