checked my e-mail from work and see that The Professors insulin has been delivered, so he will be getting his first dose tonight. The vet is just starting him on 1 unit twice a day. I probably won't test his levels tonight, but tomorrow morning the ear sticks start...hopefully. I practiced with the control drops yesterday while I was at work, good thing too, 'cause I'm an idiot and it took me like 5-6 strips to figure it out.

I would check your cat's blood glucose before you give a shot and a couple of hours after. You need to be sure it's safe to shoot and you want to make sure the numbers aren't dropping too fast. Some cats can have an immediate response to insulin and you don't want to have your cat in lower than safe numbers without your knowing that you need to intervene. Testing is the best way for you to keep your kitty safe.

This is a link to your last post for continuity.

It would be very helpful if you could take a look at this post on helping us to help you. It will provide instructions for adding information to your signature so we don't keep asking the same questions (e.g., I was going to ask what insulin you were using until I dug around to find your previous post). It will also provide instructions on setting up a spreadsheet so you can track your cat's progress and so we can follow along and offer informed feedback if you'd like us to do so.
